Inline Fuse? Fuel pump relay? UPDATE

the solenoid @wheels87k5 has used is not a ford part. Looks like Cole hersee 24213-01 normally open solenoid, and needs a ground for the control circuit.

I was told that it is a ford solenoid at the parts store. I'll start referring to it as a remote solenoid so there's no confusion.

UPDATE: I added the jumper to the starter and it now turns over. But it won't start. I do not hear the fuel pump prime when key is on.

Going to add a relay for the fuel pump and go from there.....Thanks @Bent77 and @Magikal

the black oval shaped relay in your picture of solenoid is the fuel pump relay. It may be the you only have power to some systems. check thos orange wires those feed the fuse block and ignition switch. Make sure all your fuses have power with switch on and light on.

Bad news on that one.....That section of harness got pulled with the TBI stuff and is now non existent.

That's what I'm doing now. No biggie. Just time consuming. Thanks for the heads up.

Does anyone have a link or wiring diagram for the aftermarket relay for a fuel pump?

There are a couple of diagrams that I found.

1. 87 to pump (pink wire), 86 to 12v ignition hot, 85 ground, 30 to Battery with inline fuse.

2. 87 to Battery with inline fuse, 86 to 12v ignition hot, 85 ground, 30 to pump (pink wire).

This one?

85 trigger hot
86 ground
87 power in
30 switched power out

Looking for my relays to see which one it actually is. Yours would be #3.

@Bent77

The one you have is the same as mine. So to get this straight and wired correctly:

87 is from +Battery (fused)
86 to ground
85 12v ignition hot
30 to fuel pump

That’s how mine is wired. Based on what Eddie posted, I probably have the incoming and output power backwards. But that shouldn’t change anything

@Larry @Capt Ron @ZooMad75

Can one of you help Willie figure out what's up on this?
Factory L29 injection and ECM that's been looked at by Team 208

How is the factory wiring for the fuel pump supposed to go? Right now its bypassed on a separate relay. Pump comes on and cranks but it doesn't start

Magikal asked 208Team about hooking up the fuel pump: 208Team response is in red.

Fuel pump.----- (Connect to fuel pump relay switch side (again as power or ground))?
Power from a relay

The gray wire from the 208Team harness/fuse box says it goes to the fuel pump. If 208Team says "Power from a relay" does that mean their gray wire goes to the relay?

My Howell harness is similar, separate relay for pump and pink wire feed to pump. Pump making noise and actually pumping sometimes do not go hand in hand. I would be checking pressure on rail. I think it should start with a minimum of 42ish psi. Might check voltage on coil/icm. Pink wires on both if I remember correctly.

What relay? and is that triggered by the ECM to prime and run during engine operation?

Also, most GM stuff has a wire that is hot on cranking that signals to the ECM to power the injectors. Do we know if that is hooked up (or exists)?

Is yours constant hot to the pump on key, or does it do a prime like a TBI?

This is all the open wiring that is labeled to be used. Some, like the fan, I don't use.

Help us see what you have. I get the grey wire from the ECM was for the pump.

What is R3?
