Hello all from Texas. I guess I can be called the NEWEST MEMBER at this point. I was turned onto this site by Kert @ DIY4X who told me there are many on here that have done what I am doing and how helpful folks were on here. My name is Bryan and I am in the process of building a 83 3/4 ton Suburban for my 16 yo son. It has a 6.2 and 700R4. I am new to the whole "conversion" 4x4 thing. We have already ran into our first upset with putting 56 inch springs up front and things not going together as easy as we thought it would. I thank everyone in advance who provides helpful information during this build.

Well, if you have some questions ask away in "the garage". Plenty of people here that have done what you are doing and should be able to help you through.

Oh, and you spelled your name wrong....... :D

Welcome to our newest members and guests!

Hello everyone my name is Cyrus and i'm from the northern part of California. I just recently got my 1972 K5 back in my hands and have started building it back up again. Fore the past 12 years it has been sitting at my parents house parked and not being used. This was my first car and am really excited to be working on it again. My parents bought it brand new in 72 and it has never left the family, definitely never will also. It should be"running" in about a month and will always be a project. Few spots of rust that need to be cut out, cut a P/U door and mounted our last week, now just little at a time. More to come as I get it done, maybe a Pic or two. Glad I found this site.

Hello from Canada

Hello to all.

My husband and I own two 1990 K5 Blazer 4wd's (3 if you count the parts one in the yard). And we just bought a 1982 K5 Jimmy 2wd from North Carolina two weeks ago while we were down there. We also have a couple of classic cars.
Looking forward to chatting with you all.

Hi, I am Brad from Westminster Colorado

Howdy! My name is Brad. I am a transplant from Texas, living in the Denver area now for about 4 years. I recently purchased a 1974 K5 Blazer and am enjoying getting the old truck back in good running order.
I am hoping to find a local group or club in the Denver area who specializes in these old Chevy trucks!
I do love working on these old Chevys as they are fairly simple in their overall construction. I have never done truck restorations before, but I have done a few old Camaros and and the basic systems seem to be very similar. Hopefully I can get this truck running good, looking decent, and fun to drive in the next few months!
Hit me up f you know of any local groups I may be able to join who specialize in these old trucks or Blazers!

Hey All,
I've been out of the K5 loop for a long time... Trying to sneak my way back in slow enough that SWMBO doesn't notice.. ;)

I had a military '84 K5 about 10 years ago... Loved it while I had it, until it was borrowed by a relative... They thought they were doing me a favor by topping off the tank with 87 octane gas... Only my 6.2L didn't like it.. Sold it vs paying $1600 each for the fuel injector pump rebuilds... Oh well.. So that's my history with the K5...

Now for what I'm getting back into it for...

I'm looking to build an early model 3/4 ton Suburban or 3/4 or 1 ton Chevy Crew Cab... I'd like to put a re-manufactured 5.9L Cummins in it, but I'd be satisfied with finding one with a 6.2 or 6.5 in it and have it rebuilt.

Anywhoo... About me... I'm in the Coast Guard, 25, wife and 2.5 kids, 1 girl and 1.5 boys, .5 is due later this year... I have about 2 years to start and finish this build, I plan on driving it out of here when I transfer in '14...

Hello all. Just picked up a 1984 m1009 Military Blazer CUCV (Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle). It is virtually rust free with 71k miles. It has the 6.2 GM diesel. We live in Wisconsin for part of the year, Tampa for the rest. I wish there were a four or five speed manual conversion for this engine. If anyone has any ideas, the would be appreciated. Thanks.

just picked this up yesterday, traded my cherokee for it.

88 K5 fuel injected 383 stroker with 30,000 on it, rebuilt 700r4 last year, 208 t-case, 3/4 ton axles (semi float rear for now), cowl hood, visor, retro stereo to look original but has digital read out and 10 disk changer. i just moved 2 months ago and my tools are packed in my dads shed back home.

One of the members is currently swapping his M1009 over to the 4 spd manual (SM465?) trans. You can find it in the 'Driveway Build Threads' section.

And Welcome to all you new CK5ers!

Former lurker steps into the dark side

Hey everyone!

Just joined up after cruising threads for the past year. I have a 1986 M1008 CUCV that's perpetually under construction. I have been a member of SteelSoldiers for awhile, and the CK5 forum is often recommended there.
Thanks for having me!
