Introductions & Greetings

Hi. I'm Tom (NewChevyGuy). Have a 93 Sub 4WD. Not a wheeler, just a Midwest winter vehicle/tow rig.

325K+ on the ticker, '96 Sub rims,'97 rear springs, 2nd transmission, barn doors, deer bumper and fog lights.

appreciate getting to learn about fixing/improving this rig from this site...first owned Chevy. now back to lurk status haha.

Hey all!:D
I'm originally from a farm in east-central Kansas. I'm a new guy on CK5.com but not new to the K5. I've still got the 1976 model that Dad ordered specially from the factory back in july of 1976. We did a restore job of the sheet metal on it back in '92. It was my daily driver from then up until just about 2 years ago when I caved and got a 2000 Silverado (4x4 car with a bed on it!) Since then it has just become a toy. Specs from factory were: 350 4bbl, SM465, NP205, 12 bolt rear, dana 44 front both with 3.07's:doah:. Lately it has recieved 3.73 gears, polished aluminum wheels, 35" Procomp's, 4" of lift, a 383 stroker and the latest addition of TPI. (not done but close) I'm almost certain the axles will have to be next.

Glad to be here. So far the technical knowledge on here has been un-equaled!

Hi all - new to your group - looks great

Own & beat a 76 chev 3/4 4x4 w dana 60 front and 14 bolt rear, 205 and small block 400 ready to be replaced by new home built 454 (400 is going in my '85 Fiero..can you spell FUN LOL). Getting ready to restore (new engine should have a prettier home ?? nah lol) when i decided to switch all running gear over to a Much shorter wheel base. I saw a k5 done this way...looked excellent and built like a tank. Found your group and thought some of you might be familiar with whatever issues ahead of me. I don't expect many problems. should be fairly straight forward...and much easier than straightening out my old body. LOL Any ideas...please throw um out at me..thanks

engage 4x4 on 89 K5

Hey, my first post. Looks like the place to put it. My transfer case lever is very hard to pull back when I want to engage the front wheels. I have the motor running in neutral, lock the front hubs, and the lever doesn't want to move back into 4x4-high. Finally, when it decides to move, it moves with no trouble:confused: . Do I need a new front axel shift actuator (assume it has to do with the transfer case)? Once I tried to put it in 4-low, and the gears ground bad; never tried that again. Obviously, I need to know the correct proceedure for operating the 4x4. Please help. Thanks.

Hola

My name is John. I am from OKC, OK. I recently bought myself an 84 Blazer. It's got 40" Ground Hawg's with a 6" suspension and 4" body lift on it. It's an old military issue so it's got the cool camo on it but not the diesel engine. The guy I bought it from replaced it with a Cadallic 500. I'm very green to the wrench but I wanna learn and I believe this truck will give me plenty of chances.

hi, my name's pete, i'm 35 and i've been living in switzerland for some time now. i build tube amps for guitar and do lots of custom work for the swiss music scene. i also play guitar and bass alot.
i wanted a business car that's made in the usa because that's basically where the music (and sounds) comes from that i like. since we get some snow here now and then i wanted a 4x4. i decided to get a k5. there are only a couple dozen in the whole country. some people here have never seen one!!
my 86 is pretty much stock, although the pre owner did bless me with a goodwrench 350 vortec. problem is, parts are very hard to get, since everyone drives european and japanese cars here. there are no autozones or napa or anything comparable. there is an "american car" shops where you can pay 100$ for a set of intake manifold gaskets though...
also, gas is twice as expensive as in the states.
also, laws are very tough on what your car should look like and how it should perform. so i'm checking on how to get some stuff on my truck without getting into trouble too bad (lifts are basically a nono).. i've been able to do tons of stuff on my k5 with the help of coloradok5 so far, so i decided to be a paying member. so here i am. and thanks for letting me listen in.
oh, i've also got a 88 suburban at my girl's place in ok. that, when i get around to doing it, will be our rig!

I am completely computer illiterate!
Name is Mark Woods I am a Directional Driller, 35, 5 kids and a wife. Six months back, bought a 72 Blazer, It has a NP 205, TH 350, Goodwrench 350, 12 Bolt rear, 44 front. It looks pretty rough but it runs good, rocker panels and door bottoms rusted out. All in all I guess it aint to bad to be 33 years old. I lifted it 4" and put some 35's under it. Need about a 2 to 3" body lift, the tires rub in the back front when off camber. Its a cool truck and this looks to be a cool site. Hopefully I can help some of ya'll out cause I know I'm gonna need some.

I know that if you have a NP "New Process" 203 T-case, that is just the way they are. That is one of the reasons the 205's are so desireable. I have a friend who has a 68 C-10 and he has to put both feet on the dash and to pull it in gear and both feet on the shifer to get it out, no kidding. Or maybe he has the same mechanical malfunction the you do. He's been running his like that for years.

Hello, my real name is Jeremy. I am from Kansas City, MO area. I don't have a K5 yet, but I am working on it. I have owned a variety of different trucks in my 29 years on this planet. In the last few years, I have gotten married, got a real job (industrial maintenance) and developed a couple of kids. Recently our family has taken up camping, and I wanted a fun family truck. I owned a 1988 GMC pickup back when I worked on the road and I found it very reliable and economical for a big fullsize truck. Beings' that I want about the same for my family, and my memorys of a 1979 mud truck I had as a teen, I have decieded to put together a K5 or Jimmy. My rig will be mostly a daily driver with a lift that will see mostly road use and a few non sheetmetal damaging trails. It will need to be able to pull a trailer loaded with camping gear, canoes and/ or other toys. Origionally I wanted a truck with a strait axle front, but there would be no room for kids. I don't care for jeeps, they are too small and "everyones doing it". A K5 just seems like the wat to go. Take the top off, so everyone can have some freh air and head for the outdoors.
I look forward to being a member here, shareing in my expieriances. I hope that I can become a full member soon, and take advantage of some of the other features provided here. It would also be cool if I could meet some other folks in my area that share some of the same interests.

My name is Jordan, a new member. I live in the great lakes of iowa. i have a 1980 k5, this is my second k5 the first was a 85 which i wrecked and fixed then sold. Had the bug ever since, been trying to find another one for along time. Came across the current one and couldn't pass is up, the body is DAMN good, 4 wheel works, but it does need some TLC(tranny and motor seem tired). All told stole the thing for $500 bones. Is my current DD for now, I plan on a lift, stroker, tranny and intense interior and exterior renovation w/paint as soon as my car gets home (threw rod bearing).

Just wanted to post an official "HI"!

Picked up a 1974 "Camper Special":D 4x4 that I plan on making into a "Trail Cleanup" rig. (Longbed, heavy 3/4 ton, 14b, d44, 454, rust upgrade)

Not new to wheeling but it has been awhile since I had a full size. Last one was a 1975 K5. Currently have a TJ for my trail rig.

Might need some advice and help as I biuld this thing. Seems like so many of the posts here have bad links/pictures in them.

Okay.....start the newbie bashing:wink1:

hi to all. my name is snake and i would like to let this forum know that you rock man, thanks for setting up a cool website.

I am new and I would have to that I say that I haven't had a good experience. I notice when I ask a question someone will criticize me if I make a mistake on my question. or just have some smart @ss remark. I don't believe I will be spending the 25 dollars again. I get guys who anser and are cool but it seems there's this gruop of people who think they know everything. Like I asked a question about a blazer. Well I put 68-72 blazer by accident. Someone HAD to point this out. I know its 69-72 it was a mistake. They didn't answer my question at all just pointed this out. Waste of my time when I get an email and think I have an answer to see that.

Picked up my first domestic about 2 weeks ago. I'm new to offroading but I've loved it the few times I've went, so I picked up a 77 GMC jimmy to be my trail rig.

Im gunna make this short. I have a '76 Blazer that I bought running for $60 (old lady wanted it out of her yard) I'm planning on lifting it asap at least 12" but since it is just a toy i want to do it as cheep as possible (used parts and self fabrications) but i need some advise since this is my first BIG project (i lifted my Bronco 4" but had help) any advise or parts you guys have to offer would be great. It's totaly stock and the body is all rusted out (might just toss it) so I'm open to any ideas for the project and long as it gets lifted and i spend as little money as possible. Thanks alot guys

Well i guess this is the right place for my first post so here it goes. Ive been wheeling chevy pickups since the day i got my first one in 97. I live in Gypsum Co which is just over cottonwood pass from the ORD shop which makes getting parts easy. Any way my truck has stayed about the same for a few years now except for the paint. Now it is a red 86 with black flames, has a 133" wheelbase with a bobbed flat bed, and kegs for fuel tanks. It also has a 427 ci big block, turbo 400 hooked to a 205, d60 and a 14 bolt ff. Both diffs are locked with detroits the rear is a normal detriot and the front is electric. Not real special just built to be tough.

This site looks like fun and I hope to meet some of you at the blazer bash this year. Im pretty sure that i saw storm troopers blazer in moab for the jeep safari this year but i might be wrong. Any way im glad to be here. thanks

My name is Ryan Goodrich and I have been a registered user for a few months but today I became a member. I am 21 and live in Des Plaines IL. I own an 89 chevy blazer. I bought it about six months ago for $850. Its been my daily driver and so far I have done: 4"front TC springs, ORD swaybar disconnects, Rear 4" ORD shackle flip, rear double CV driveshaft, 35"X12.50 Truxus Mud Terrains, and have replaced fuel pump, filter, injectors, etc. The body is rotted badly so I plan on putting on a pickup cab(got one for $100) and building half doors, rollcage, custom flatbed rear. I also plan on installing a Dana44 front and 14bFF rear (got both for $200). Here's a pic of me wheeling the truck At the badlands in Attica IN three weeks after I got the truck.
