Introductions & Greetings

Hello and thanks for letting me join. My name is Bill and I live in Fayetteville NC. I just picked up my First K5 and am excited to start working on it.
It has your standard 305 motor with the 4 Speed Muncie.
Thanks much!

Derek & Kelly from NC. My wife and I joined this forum so we could learn more about big lifts and engine swaps. Here are the projects that we are working on:
81 C10 - It's been in my family since mile #7. Underconstruction. Fabricated pretty much everything (frame, control arms, link...), switched to right-hand drive (just because), bodydrop, lots more. Completion date: ??
76 K5 2wd - Bodydrop, 22's, air suspension, 4-link, 2016 L83 w/ 6speed. Completion date: Summer 2020
87 K5 4wd - Plans: Good size lift, air suspension, 4-link, 40" tires, 2016 L83 w/ 8speed. Completion date: Summer 2020

Stopped in to say hello. Picked up an 89 Blazer three months ago and have been hard at work with a moderate drivable restore. Lots of great information here and I hope to add some in the future. Nothing really worked well in the truck, repaired replaced a lot so far. All the mechanical stuff is now working. Every time I go to replace or fix something it turns into an ordeal, every nut and bolt is rust welded in place. A pics of new refreshed interior and one body shot. Hope to start a build thread in a few days.

Welcome Reddrig.
It already looks like yours is in pretty good condition compared to a lot of the rough rigs some of us have.

It was fairly ruff when I purchased, replaced all of the interior pieces and pulled axles for clean and paint. All the motors were replaced in front and rear windows, had some rust patches that I welded up also. I just put a few hundred hours in over the past three months. It did have fairly decent paint. The engine bay is next which is a mess, surprisingly it runs very well. I’m going to try and start a build thread in the next few days.

Hello! I am currently working on a K30 cucv, we are doing an axle swap with a K5 10 bolt. I know, I know why would I do this?! Well I don’t plan on going rock climbing or any super crazy off road trails. I just want a truck that I can daily but also go fishing or hunting and not have to worry about my vehicle not be able to make it. I am still trying to figure out how to add pictures and navigate this site. Seems like I need to just get a premium account.

Yes you have to have a minimum post count for pictures, but the premium access is worth it.

When you get rolling, start a build thread so we can see your project

hello and welcome,
You'll be able fiance the gear swap on the 10 bolt with the money that d60 will bring. Are you going to use the 4.56 from the cucv or stay with the current gearing in the K5 ?

I don’t know what the gearing will be yet. It is currently the k5 gearing. I’m looking at different options, thinking about making it a locking dif with all new gearing.

Hi everyone! Bought an 89' Blazer with a 6" lift on 35s. It was a buddy of mine's who got the engine overhauled and put a new transmission in it. Cosmetically it needs a paint job but mechanically it runs great. Need to get some steps or nerf bars cause it's an olympic sport trying to get in the drivers seat. Looking forward to adding some photos soon!
