thanks for adding me.. i live in Rapid City and have problems find parts that i break on my k5 blazer I broke out one of my sliding windows on my topper..... I know that the topper i have on is not the right year... how can i find a new replacement

Hey Everyone,

I'm proud to say I recently picked up my first Blazer(1989 Silverado). I'm glad this site exists because as it turns out my truck needs allot more work than I thought. I'm guessing the previous owner let it sit for a while. Oh well, thats part of the fun, right?

I'm not completely new to Blazers as my buddy used to have a '79. We had allot of fun wrenching on it and even driving it once in a while.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi everyone,

My name is Brian I'm from Ontario, Can. and I'm new to the forum. I've been lurking here a few times and picked up tons of valuable info in those few visits. Thank you all for helping me to build my Blazer (even though nobody knew that they helped) :).
It took all summer to do, but she's finally roadworthy! Now I need input to make her trailworthy too.... This is the best place I can think of to get the job done.
It's a 1979 Blazer body on a 1977 frame and drivetrain. Yes, it confused me too... they don't fit together without some modification. I figured that out after the the bodies were separated:doah:.
Anyway, It's my turn to try and return the favor....

Hello BlazeHogg76 and all the rest of the crew here. I am also in Rapid City, SD and have been a lurker for a couple of years. I finally became a member a while back and have been meaning to make time to do an intro. My signature has brief descriptions of my trucks. The '70 K5 Jimmy is my current project.

BlazeHogg76, have you checked with Don up at Rapid Auto Glass? He can find or make just about any automotive glass there is.

These are cool forums!

I'm a newb just posting in. I found this site after researching the chevy military CD blazers w/ the 6.2 diesel motor. I have been a yota owner for most of my life but wanted to build a biodiesel DD that can go where I want it. So I joined this site to pick up useful info.

If anyone has useful info I'm all ears. Seems I have alot of reading to do.

Hello, my name is Matt McCormick. I am currently residing in the off road trail-less town of Downingtown, Pa. Three days ago, I purchased the third K5 that Ive owned. (Thats not including the '77 Burban, '87 K20, '79 K30, that Ive also owned.) As you can see I live by the bow tie. My newest rig is an '89 Chevy K5 Silverado. It has a stock TBI 350/700R4, and 3:73s. Now for the good stuff-8" of lift all spring (no blocks), 35X12.50 BFG M/ts, Rancho RS9000 quads in front and also in rear. The lift appears to be done very professionally. They utilized a transfer case lowering kit, and pitched th rear perfectly. I purchased this K5 from a friend, and he claims to have only replaced the u joint once in the 4 years its been lifted. My plans are motor and trans rebuild w/ many upgrades for both, Dana 70 in rear w/ locker, Dana 60 in front, 5 point harnesses, and a roll bar. I love this site already, and have alot of plans for this K5. Feel free to give suggestions, for I appreciate chatting with any Chevy/GM heads.

Hi, I've been a member here for a while but not posted yet. I've got a fully convertable 1975 Blazer which has been converted into a pickup. It's running a 400ci small block 6 lug axles and rollerskate 31x10.5x15 bridgstone dueller MTs.

I'm in England in the rolling hills of Derbyshire (pretty much the middle of the country). It's actually a pretty good place to live, despite the weather and petrol costing around £1.10 a litre (£5 or $10 per UK gallon, about $8.33 per US gallon I think!). Needless to say, it's not my daily driver - I commute to work on my Suzuki GSXR streetfighter that I built and I also have a Mercedes 420SEL that runs on LPG (propane)...

Getting parts over this side of the pond is tricky, but there are a few places that ship to the UK, and a few places over here that sell basic service items.

Future plans include a 6" full spring suspension lift, 1" body lift and a set of 37" MT tyres. Before I do all that, I need to unsieze the front calipers though.

Where is a good place to look for spare parts in the USA? I've checked places like Rockauto, summit racing and some of the larger chains, are there any recommended places you guys use for bits and pieces?

Over the coming months (when I've finished building my garage), I'll be asking questions, how to set up the edelbrock etc?

Oh, and where's a good place to post pics? :D

Cheers, Martin

What's crackin? I just joined up 2day after a few days of reading through some of these forums... I'm trying to find my family's second vehicle... I'm putting practicality and versatility on a scale... not too many vehicles measured up, but I found that a 73-91 chevy suburban is just the ticket... I look forwards to hearing from you guys/gals as I look for/ purchase/ modify/ and post my soon to be 2nd vehicle...

Welcome! LMC Truck is a great place for parts

Hi everyone. I am new to k-chevy's, but I do own an '05 Jeep LJ on 35's with an AEV highline kit. I have been around quite a few k20's when I was little and my dad drove them. I would love to build a k5 truggy with a 1 ton drivetrain.

Hey guys,

New to the forums but not new to 1 ton chevys. My recent find is a M1008 from the U.S. Army. I pick it up this coming Thursday from the base in Ft. Riley, KS. The last one I had I lifted and set up on a set of 40" TSL's. Swapped it up to 5:13's, 8" lift, high steer etc.

I haven't decided which avenue I will take on this one. Looking forward to seeing what others have done on here and what parts they used to get there.

Hello everybody. My name is Troy, 33.

Im new to this forum (obviously) and thought I'd make my presence known.

I am a mechanic by trade, choice, and passtime. There's not much else I really enjoy more than turning a wrench or hearing the sound of something pneumatic.

I am a "civilian" employed through contract on a military installation - Fort Hood, which is located in central Texas, one hour north of Austin, Texas - The state capital.

I have never owned a truck but have always wanted one. My wife insisted we buy a new truck sooner or later, but I was holding out for an older model - I simply had to sell the concept to her. All of this changed last March.

March 08 - I was informed by my employer that I would be responsible for moving my Snap cab whenever they saw fit to put me elsewhere. Apparently, somebody had chosen not to check a trailer of a complete shop's worth of employees tool boxes to be secure and off loaded one or two (possibly more) along the way to the new shop location - One totalling a Honda Accord ! Thus, all employees now felt the wrath of the incident - Move yourself without the company's involvement, other then the order to move out.

Problem: I own a 2k Dodge Neon, lowered with a maximum of 3" ground clearance. My Snap cab stands 4Hx7Wx36W. Not exactly trunk-able. I needed a truck - And the hunt began. The good fortune of all of this was that I had my sell pitch laid before me to immediately grab an older model truck instead of a possible 2008/9 electronic nightmare.

I tripped over an 86 GMC Jimmy for 3500. I paid 3000 all said and done. It is in awesome condition, complete to the original Cali air pump, A/C, original engine etc. There is no cancer aside the minor infections above the cab where the shell mates.

I could talk about it for a page longer, but will do so in a more appropriate thread once I begin the restorations to like new condition. Surely there will be changes along the way, but Im particular of which changes are worth while IMO and which do not relate to how I will enjoy my new passtime.

Which is where this board entered. I will have questions. Im certain I will receive many answers. Enough input to justify the cost of membership after lurking here for 2 months. I look forward to "meeting" all of you in the future and possibly some of you in person. I checked the member map and didnt notice anybody relatively close but am certain that not every member is pinned atm.

So, hello everyone from Ft Hood Texas - Nice to meet ya. :waytogo:
