Introductions & Greetings

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum but not new to fourwheeling. Here's some background on me if anyone cares to read it. I have been married for 8 years now and have two kids. My job is being a firefighter/paramedic in the great state of NJ and have been doing so for 15 years now. Some of my favorite things to do is to go hunting, fishing, camping, fourwheeling, and spending time with my family (not nessasarily in that order). I had at one time an '87 C-10 pickup lifted 4 inches with 35's, a painfully stock 305 motor and 10 bolt rears. It was a decent truck and I never really beat the crap out of it, so it took me everywhere I dared to take it. After a while it started to become unreliable and I needed to find something that was. So I now have the family repsonsible and reliable vehicles now (boy that makes me wanna vomit) and recently came acrossed my newest acquisition. My buddy bought a K-5 Blazer from another friend of mine with the intention of fixing it up. It was running poorly so he decided to pull the motor and re-build it. When he stripped it down, he realized the motor was junk and began looking for a new motor. He found a re-built Monte Carlo SS-350 motor for it and was intent on installing it. He started getting busy at work and with the fire department he belongs to and began to lose interest. The truck sat for like 3 years at his in-laws when he got the ultimatum to get rid of it. Somewhere in the middle he started his own business and had a need for a commercial van. I enter the picture with said van (a 1991 Astro-not that I'm proud of that by the way) and we both had the bright idea to trade vehicles. So that's what brings me here! The truck is fairly solid body wise with the usual rocker panel rot and a couple of spots on the floor starting to go but not through yet. It's 100% stock and I had the chance to talk to the original owner about the truck. It was ordered with the factory tow package, class 3 hitch, 3.73 gears, and 31 inch tires. The paint is two tone blue (dark navy and royal blue center stripe) and is starting to surface rust on the roof/hood. My goals are to 1: Get it running right for use as a DD 2: Fix the offending body rot as money permits 3: Get the body painted 4: Eventually build the truck as an off road toy. It's gonna take while but it will eventually be nice one of these days. So there ya have it, that's me in a nutshell. I will try to post some pics of it when I get the chance to. Greg

Hello, my name is Chris and I live in Colorado Springs, CO. I have been a Chevy Blazer fan since before I could drive. I bought my first '77 Blazer when I was just 15 living in Durango, CO. Since then I have had an '89 Blazer and my new project is a '79 GMC Jimmy. I am very excited about this new project and have a ton of ideas on what I can do to it!

Hi All! My name is Dick and I am from Hudson , Wisconsin. After I did some years off-roading in Moab with my VW Touareg with air suspension I decided to do this in the future without the adrenalin shocks one gets doing these kind of things with a 60 K Dollar vehicle. After this years tour to Moab I bought a 1977 K Blazer with a almost new carte engine in that is good for some 300+ hp. Over the winter I plan to do some mods to the vehicle to be able to use it for off-roading next summer. I joint this forum to learnsome tipps and tricks that should be done to the vehicle, and also to share some of my knowledge with other forum members.

Once I learnhow to put pictures into the messages, I will put some of my new toy in.

Hello and good day to all. My name is Herb, I have a '70 K5 that has since now gone from a 1-3 yr project to an 8 yr. In fact I just got the motor turned over yesterday...I am on cloud nine!!! My problem however, is that it's been 8yrs since I first took this truck apart...and as you can imagine.....anyway I was just looking for some simply pics....basically of the engine bay, showing the "original form" of the '69 - 72. I have looked at a lot of publications ( i.e.LMC, etc) and none really have what I am looking for...I am now looking for actual trucks just to take some pics of so I can reproduce so to speak. If anyone out there can help w/ either personal pics of your ride or better suggestions I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank You!!

hey there kib...
try LMC Trucks....they should have what you need. I purchased floor pans, rockers, etc...they have pretty much all you would need, and all OEM as well. Good luck.

Welcome aboard! :D

Hey all,
I guess I'll start off by introducing myself. My names Josh, originally hale from Hot Springs, AR. I joined the Navy in 1999 and been living the easy life ever since:rolleyes:. I am an EO (Equipment Operator) for the Seabees. I enjoy what I do, ALOT, and plan on sticking around for as long as possible. I am married to the perfect woman, she cooks, cleans the house and loves to wheelin' and camping. She also likes to keep my rigs clean, so after a long weekend of trail riding, she takes care of the aftermath.:D I also have 2 children, Tracker who is 7 and really into sports and turning wrenches, and my daughter, Shelby who will be 2 in Feb. She's not quite ready to turn wrenches, but give her some time.:wink1:

Sooooo, about my rigs. I have a few that I've built over the past few years.
First one was a 91 K5, TBI 383, 2.5 ton Rockwells, and 44 TSl's. Tore it all to pieces in the Mississippi mud:mad:. Ended up parting it out.

Next is the current vehicle I own, 2005 Wrangler Unlimited, 4.0I6, 42RLE auto., 79 Ford HP 60 front, ARB, Chromolly shafts, 14 bolt rear, Dtertioit locker, both loaded with 5.13 gears. Custom Tri. 4 link rear, 3 link wishbone front, custom cage, bumpers, etc.

2nd is a truck my pops gave me a few weeks ago. It's a crew cab 1 ton 4x4 chevy, (reason I came to CK5.com.) Want to learn all I can about bobbing the bed and so forth, planning on rebuilding it from front to back.

So far all I know about the truck is this. 454, SM465, 60 front, 14 bolt rear, 4-6" lift and it's a SRW. It neds ALOT of body work, (Arkansas farm truck). So i figured I'd do the 91 K5/Suburban front clip, new doors, and depending and the shape of the either bobbing the stock one or shortning the frame and doing a short box, or short flatbed. Decisions, decisions. Planning on 44" TSL's for tires, so before paint there will be alot of fender trimming:D

He says the old truck runs really good, 4 wheel drive works great, but it will need a clutch pretty soon. Says the throw out bearing is chattering pretty good along with some slippage.

Wow, this turned out to be a long ass intro., sorry.

Welcome to the board, it's always good to see a fellow gulf coaster around here! When you get a chance post up some pics of both rides, I'd like to see the crew cab and my wife could use some motivation to get ride of the 31's on her LJ. :wink1: Are you in Ms or overseas?

I'm going to upgrade to a full membership in a few minutes, I'll post pics of the Jeep then. I don't any of the truck yet, my old man is not very computer literate. Oh, I am overseas right now, Bahrain, A little island off the coast of Saudi Arabia. Should be back in Gulfport around the middle of April hopefully.

Sweet, looking forward to pics! Be sure to watch the regional Southeast forum as we try to get together once in a while to eat and tell lies. :D I'm sure we'll being doing something in the spring. :wink1:
