Jalopy

Hello, My name is Shane from Littleton Colorado. I have a 1950 Willys truck body sitting on a 78 GMC Jimmy/k5 chassis. It took me 2 years to complete the project. The story behind the Willys truck is, My Dads Vietman budy bought a ranch just down the road from my his place. The barn on the property had a back room, like an attached tack supply shed. The 2 doors were sealed with foot of dirt built up in front of them. So my Dad drove his tractor over and dug the doors free. In side was the Willys truck, sunk in the dirt up to the frame. Covered in bird S.... He knew I was looking for a new project and called me. We pulled out the truck and the frame was rotten but the body was in great shape. I did some research and found that a full size wagoneer or a k5 frame was the best fit. $850 at Colorado Auto Parts got me a 1978 GMC Jimmy that needed shocks, tires and a power steering pump. I thought it over for a week, do I build the wilys or build the K5. I figured that I could always find another K5 and started the 2 year build on the Willys. Now I have a great truck.
I sold the K5 body back to Colorado Auto parts, and a few local 4x4ers bought the rest of the parts, I made the $850 back.
So now the truck has a Skyjacker lift, 38.5 TSL's, duall steering stablizers, lockers, on board air with 2 old CO2 tanks, warn winch, 400 small block with a voodo cam, and a custom interior. I had to cut off and weld in new body mounts to fit the willys cab on. The bed is sitting on a sub frame that is welded to the frame. This was an awsome build and I am still adding things when I can.
The Next build I have started is a Ex-Forest Service 1984 Burb 2500.
I look foward to seeking the advise from CK5 members.

She's got a 350/granny w/Edleborck intake & carb, all locked Dana 44 in the front and a 14 Corp pushing my ass in the rear, 3.73 gears, standard np205, 4 inch Skyjacker lift. I just had both rocker panels & supports put in by someone with smarts and I'm just workin on other body work right now. Pics comin' soon.

Nice Place you got here. Think I'll stick 'round. *tips hat*

Another newbie here! My name is Dan and I live in Billings Montana and I'm a recovering Ford-a-holic, but at least admitting you have a problem is part of curing it! I have owned several Chevy's including a really cool 1990 K-5 with a 4" lift and 35's. Sadly though, it broke down on me once too often and I decided to sell it. :doah:
I also own a 1972 Pontiac Ventura II that's (almost) all original with 62,000+ miles on it. My g-pa used to own it and when he passed away I inherited it. So far I've put an Edelbrock 650cfm carb, intake and Mallory Unilite distributor.

I'm hoping to buy a 1990 or 1991 Suburban ASAP. I already have my wife talked into letting me get a 4" lift and 33's for it and I'm working on a Warn winch and bumper, (wish me luck). The 'Burb won't see heavy duty rock trails like the Rubicon, but more like fire roads and back woods trails to secluded lakes in our area. In other words, an all around camping and grocery getting rig!

73 Frame Off Newbie

New to this forum, and looking to gain some insight on a few areas on my blazer. I am building a 73 with a 2000 LS1 Corvette motor, 4l80e transmission, Dana 60 axles with ARB Air Lockers, etc. It is a frame off rebuild and will have a 89-91 front clip when completed. I will post some pics to show the progress as soon as I figure out how to do it. :D

Awesome. I recommend Photobucket for your picture posting needs. It's free. You sign up, upload your pics, and then post the code they give you under the picture, it'll be the one that starts with "

Hi, my name's John. I'm over here in Oregon. I have a '77 Blazer with a 350/th350/np203 in it. It's got some bolt ons on the engine and some previous owner installed 4" lift blocks(only in the rear, of coarse!). I had to weld up the frame around the steering box area as is common on these. A gear reduction starter and she was good to go! I totally dig this site as well as the vendors I discovered on here. My plans are to do a shackle flip/56" rear spring setup in the rear & a 52" spring swap in the front. I'll throw in some zero rates to level things out if needed. My truck won't be a trail truck, just a DD that can "git it" offroad and be safe on the street. I do plan on becoming a member, just been laid off work since the middle of November so no $$$, not even 25 bucks! I'm a equipment operator by trade. Going back to the grind this coming Monday though!

This site rocks!

Later guys- John :D

Hello, new here. My name is Andy and I have owned two or three dozen Chevys, but only a few trucks. My first was a '79 Blazer 2WD w/ 250 six, but it used more oil than gas. I currently have a '91 S10 2WD longbed and an '88 K10 Suburban. The burban is mostly stock other than headers and whatnot, with a beefed 700r4, 400sb and 14ff on the "to do" list.

introduction

Hi everyone, my name is John and I live in Penticton British Columbia, Canada.
I am not new to the world of offroading. I own a few chevies right now but
none of the 4x4s are operational at the moment ...........LOL:doah:.

New guy here.

Live in SoCal (Temecula)

1985 K2500 Suburban
6.2l Diesel
and needs a little work

700r4 was replaced before I bought the thing from its second owner. Whoever did the rebuild/replace swapped in the 2wd model so currently it's the right transmission with the wrong case. no dust cover and the struts are just hanging. Need to resolve that problem...

other than that, a little rough running, and a leaky hydroboost the thing is in okay shape for an 1985.

Have lots of plans, for now I'm just taking the CK5 in steps so I don't overload.

yet another joined and paid newbie

well, here i am. i'm robert, some of you will probably (hopefully?) have met me on other boards as well, i bounce around several towing, diesel pickup, and a few other boards.

been lurking here for a couple weeks, decided to join and try to learn, add what i could, poke fun and hope at least 2 or 3 of you share my slightly warped sense of humor! i try to not push too many buttons, but if i push anyones, i'm sorry! i'm normally kidding! if i'm serious, i'll say so right up front.

right now, i do have a k5, among several other toys. had it for more years than i'm willing to admit to (yet!) and it still isn't on the road, bought it as a project, missing the engine and needing a few other parts rebuilt. i had decided i wanted to finally build something i was as proud to pop the hood on as i was to drive it, and got sidetracked here and there. i was driving heavy wreckers out of denver, working 90-100 hours most weeks, and just had no time to work on it. then, i went to work for a contractor in iraq, been here 3 years now, so it's still on hold. someday............it WILL run again!!
