My name is Mike. MeanMike is my nickname give by my friends because I'm too nice. Kinda like calling a fat guy Tiny. I'm from Hendersonville, TN which is 20 min. north of nashville.

My daily driver is a 95 tahoe with a dick cepek lift, 35" toyo MT's on 18x9 pro comp 7089's, 4.56's front and rear with an eaton pos that replaced the factory gov bomb. Vetter servo in the trans, flexalite electric fans. Truck has leather, NP241, and black bumpers and grill. Pretty much your basic mall crawler. I have an ORD shackle flip and 0-rates, but might trade them for a shackle flip for the other project.

The beater project.
I recently bought a 77K5 with 305/th350/np205/10b/12b with 4.10's on 35" boggers. The body is pretty rough, but good enough for me. Gave $500 for it.
I also bought a 85 K20 with a 350/700r4/NP208/8-lug d44/14ff/ 38.5 gumbo mudders on 16.5" wheels and a perfect body and bed. The motor has a few good parts on it. It has an unknown 4" lift and new in the box russel extended brake lines. I also came with some extra body parts. I bought it as an unfinished project with lots of little issues for $1000

I'm mixing the two into a fairly capable wheeling rig. I'm using the 350 and 700r4 from the K20 and putting it in the k5 with the np205. I'm swapping the 3/4 ton axles until I can find a d60. I'm going to get 4" tuff country front springs and a shackle flip for the K5. The gumbo mudders and chrome wheels are getting sold and replaced with some 37" boggers on 16" cragar soft 8's. I'm also using the 85 front clip, tailgate, and doors on the 77 tub. The K5 is getting an ORD steering box brace and I'll probably hold off on the crossover steering untill I find a D60. I'll start a build thread when I get going on it.

Reporting in from cold ass Alaska. Originally from Santa Barbra CA, I am a heavy equipment mechanic in the Air Force. Just recently picked up my second K5, a bone stock 88, first was an 85 I owned when stationed in FL. Have big plans for this one but progress will be slow due to the outrageous shipping cost up here. Not new to the site, used to visit quit frequently when I had my 85.Glad to see it’s still up and running better than ever. This is by far the best site dedicated to the best vehicle Chevy ever built, the K5 Blazer!!

Aloha All!
I'm just getting back into Chevy's with an 87 suburban GMC. Its lifted 4" (but sits about 6" higher)running 35's. I need to bring the back up a couple more inches to level her out, I swapped in an SF14 bolt and will eventually throw in a 60/14 combo. I plan to do more mods to it to make it my ideal hunting and fishing rig.
I hope to make some new acquaintances and soak up some good info.
Mahalo!

I've never been there but I heard most of West Texas is nothing but desert winds and tumbleweeds. That and if you're driving through it takes forever and a day.

I am fairly new to the site. I have and 84 Jimmy that i got in a trade for an 85 s10 blazer that had no motor or transmission or back door. It is rust free and the only body damage is along the passenger side where the previous owner drove over the top of a nissan pick up that he didnt know was parked next to him. All it needed was a motor and since i had one on an engine stand that i built two years ago, the price seemed right. In the last few monthes i have put the motor in, rebuilt the thm400, and installed a 4in rough country lift. The interior was stripped and rear carpet replaced with bed liner and front carpet with a new oem vinyl mat.
This site has been a great help to me and i encourage anybody who is interested in 4x4 chevys to pay the $25 for a membership, it is worth every penny.

Hello there

I just joined to look into options for Blazers. Great site! I live in Rifle, CO and have been thinking about building up my father-in-law's 1977 Blazer (If I can repo it!). Truthfully I am a Toyota fan, but why not build a Blazer if it is free? I have been wheeling around Western Colorado and Moab for many years and frequently see Mr. Watson (Offroad Design) on the trail and envy his rig. I would appreciate any input from members on this possible build. Below are my thoughts.

Current
  • 1977 Chevy Cheyenne Blazer (Black)
  • 350 4 bolt Main - possible upgrades? (Old man was a mech/motor head)
  • 4" Rancho? springs front/rear...Old!
  • 35" mud kings - cracked/old
  • Aluminum directional wheels
  • Big 4" dia. custom bumpers w/ old winch.
  • NP203?
Future
  • Get it running!
  • Cleanup - Been sitting on the back 40 for 8yrs.
  • Dana60/14FF
  • 4.56 gears w/ ARB's
  • Upgrade Axle shafts/U-Joints
  • 6" TC front springs
  • 1" Zero's
  • Keep rear springs, add ORD 4" Shackle flip, possibly pull out a leaf or two..... Need to pull camper? Replace springs?
  • Doubler
  • 38" TSL w/ blk steelies
  • New front/rear bumpers w/ 12,000# winch
  • 14FF disc conversion
  • Fender Trimming........OF COURSE!!
I plan on using this as a family weekend wheeler and hunting rig. Once in awhile I get the hair to do some serious wheeling. Is this overkill?? What are your thoughts.

Hey guys, hows it going? My name is Kenny and I live in Hanford, CA. This site is pretty awesome. I drive a 1973 chevy Blazer. lq9 6.0 out of a 06 ss pickup, turbo 400, ORD doubler, d 60/ ff14 blt, 5.13s, and 40 inch iroks. I love this rig. I can crawl all day, drag race at the beach, and still tow what ever I need to.

Hey guys and gals, I registered here some time ago but its been long since I've been back so here I am.

I have a '72 Blazer (originally the orange/yellow color with white topper) that I bought in '86 while in high school. Its now black. Instead of modding Viper powered vehicles (had a 2001 Viper GTS, supercharged SRT Ram) I'm looking to finally finish the Blazer. I recently posted a thread about finding chrome shocks and stabilizers.
