Introductions & Greetings

sorta but not really new here

hey guys, Ive been kicking around this site on and off for about two years now, finally thought id make it official. and im sure glad i did. not being able to see pics of other peoples projects finally drove me nuts.
I thought it would be good timing to join as this friday will the inaugural test run of my '90 chevy blazer. Ive spent the whole weekend wrapping up all kinds of little stuff and "poser flexing" on my retaining wall to look for any bind ups and F ups on my part.... so far so good...

ill be sure to take some pictures (ie: lots) of my rig and my buddies SAS'd turbo toyota. its been raining lots lately, and i think i might leave the top at home:D

enough of my ranting.

my truck lives in calgary alberta at the moment
and it is a 1990 chevy blazer with a pimpin bone stock 350 tbi (for now) backed by a well built 700r4 with some goodies and a B&M cooler, keeping it cool are 2 16inch flexalite fans, a 241 w/ SYE comes in behind that out back is a HAD shaft w/ trans brake and 1350 yokes mated to a 14BFF w/ 5.13's, detroit, and discs, and spacers for my 8bolt hummer rims, up front is the usual D60 (5,13's and detroit) lift on my rig include 6" springs in front with ord zero rates, and shackles. out back are 6" superlifts and ord shackle flips, a diy4x shock inboard kit, guardsman, diy4x rear bumper, razorback diffguards front and back, evolution x over steering, ord engine xmember, dual optimas. blah blah blah.... maybe a pic now. :D

Old Newbie

Hi all, My name is Wes from Tucson Az. Longtime lover and driver of the K series Blazer. Was a co-owner of a 69 with my father back in high school. Bought my own 77 around 1985 ( What a pig it was) Thought I would try Toyota FJ and hated that. In 1997 I went back on the prowl for another K-5. found a sweet "90" in great condition and have had it ever since. Only problem it has is keeping a transmission under it. I am now looking at it's third rebuild in 11 years. This last rebuild only lasted 2 years and was not driven much. The tranny is a 700R4. One of my sons (a hard core wheeler) wants me to get rid of it due to unreliability . I love this truck and do not wish to part with it, makes me wanna cry just thinking about it. :o I need some encouragment to keep it and also would appreciate thoughts on that transmission.

hello everyone, my name is greg and im form norcal. i drive and wheel my 1978 chevy k10. just wanted to say hi to everyone and hope to make new friends

I would be interested in your opinion of a good tranny shop in Tucson. I have some experience with Banks transimission. Have not had them do work for me but have done work on friends rigs and the owner is a great guy to talk. Not married to them and would like to check around on other.
Let me know.

Thanks Jason,
I will give them a call. I hope to get this thing back on the road by hunting season in November. Economy being what it is, I not feeling very encouraged.

I'm from Yakima, WA. I just pulled my 87 SWB 4x4 out of storage for the first time in almost 11 years! It's kind of a "show n go" type truck that I started just after my senior year of high school. Marriage and life kind of got in the way of finishing it, and kind of lost interest. I got it home a couple of weeks ago and decided to finally get it driveable. I'm just gonna make it a nice summer driver that might turn a head or two every now and then. Nothing too tricked out. Theres a few things that I did back then that I thought were cool that I'm not so into now. Some I'll have to change, some I'm just stuck with for now. It's been a while since I've done anything on this style of truck so I'm hoping to get some info from you guys on some issues that might come up. Thank in advance!

Thank you for the warm welcome!! I am deffinitly proud to be a member of the K5 community having purchased my 91 fullsize Blazer recently I am allready going crazy on the mods and am gathering the parts I need for an insane all around wheeling machine. My K5 is the newest addition to the very long list of vehicles (all Chevys ofcourse) that I've built from the ground up and I gotta say I wish I would have bought one of these things a long time ago, I friggin LOVE it!! Looking forward to taking full advantage of your kick ass site and forums. Thanks for having me guys! I will be posting pics of the Blaze in its current form and a couple of my other creations.

Hi All

My name is Nick and I live near Hays KS. I have a 1985 k5 that I am in the process of rebuilding. So far the 305 has been replaced with a 330hp GM crate motor. The trans has been replace with a built TH400. The body had a large amount of rust when I started this project 3 years ago. I have replaced all of the floor as well as the body mounts, rear quarters, both doors, both front fenders and inner fenders. The next project is to replace the 3.08 gears with 3.73's. I have enjoyed doing all of this with the help of friends and now my son is old enough to help as well.

I have been off and on this website for a few years reading the stories that everyone shares and decided that this would be money well spent.

It has had some great work done to it , like a new GM Goodwrench crate motor , he had the body work done a few years ago & a complete check up by the local Chevy dealer , I recently found some captian chairs out of a brand new van for it but hav'nt put em in yet ..Anyway , I love this web site & I hope to learn ALOT more about getting my K-5 even MORE ready for the trails of the great state of Oregon ...:D
