Introductions & Greetings

Hi, my name is John and I have a 1994 chevy 350 4x4 k5 Blazer running on a new HOH generator. The average mileage on 27 gallons of gas is 350 miles in city and 460 miles freeway. It could be better but I am running on 22" rims. I lost about 50 miles per tank because of the massive rims. Oh well.

How's it goin guys? My name is Michael i'm 17 and I own a 1984 K5 BLazer that's my daily driver that gets me from point A to point B and most of the time point C. :D I live in Panama City Beach, FL. and my buddies and I love searchin for new trails and deep mud holes. Its funny any offroader knows your bound to break sometin! and dats what most of them HATE, but my buddy keith and I like it most of the time when it doesnt hurt our wallets tooooo much. We love to fabricate, weld (learning), working on stuff, learning new modifications to do on our trucks, etc. My buddy Keith he's 17 as well and owns a 1989 K5. I joined CK5 in high hopes in meeting new offroaders and some expert advice on new modifcations I can do to my truck. Im sure illl have MANY questions. I'm 17 im FULL of them.

Whats up fellas my name is Jon Hall and I own a pretty cherry 85 K5 Chevy Blazer. An old 4x4 guru sold it to me and he took real good care of it. He pulled out the 350 and threw a 454 in it with a holly carb. I want to modify it further thats why I came to this forum, I feel lucky to own this vehicle and I want to take care of it.

Got the Bug

My name is Jeremy, I live in North Central Utah and married with children. I have always liked the K5 since I was a kid although we never had one. I wanted one for family camping/daily driver and rock/cliff/mountain wild hair climbing. I finally picked one up about a month ago and have been trying to change things around on it.

It came with the 350 tbi (210hp) (144,000mi), D44 front, 12 Bolt rear and a 4" lift with 35's. I have since swapped out the axles with a 4.56 D60 front, 4.56 14 Bolt rear and ARB air lockers in both. It has the 208 TC. I assume everything else is stock. I have a soft top coming and have some panels for body work. I would like to find or build some bumpers to stiffen up the frame ends and avoid cracking while protecting the truck well. I am completely new to modding things and need some help. One example would be me wanting to put in an HD Sway bar and crossover high steer. I have been told since that the high steer requires the removal of the sway bar and swaping the steering box for a 2wd. I would like to keep the sway bar for highway and towing a small tent trailer (3,000lbs)

Any help would be great.

Hello from hot and sunny New Mexico!

I currently have a 250 L6 powered '76 Blazer. All stock (for now) except some interior stuff and 31 inch BFG KO's.

About 10 years ago I sold my 76 Jimmy, and have somewhat regretted it. That ride was great... Until it's previous life as a beach truck in FL started to be an issue. Sand was in places that sand shouldn't be.. Don't ever buy anything that had served as a beach truck during hurricanes.

Bought the Blazer and have been fixing it as time allows. It has more or less sat for 3 years now. But, this fall/winter it's going to get worked over and brought back into shape. Kinda tired of seeing it rot:D

Hey All,

New to the forum, thought I'd throw out my intro. I'm Tom, live in the suburbs of Minneapolis, MN. Grew up with a father that worked for Ford, but somehow have ended up with virtually all of my cars being GM. Wierd.

Currently own a 1985 Chev K-10, 305, 700r4. Stock, essentially. Had an old Camaro that was going to be top of my project list, but had to sell that off last fall, due to a few economic troubles. Realized that my truck and I are probably stuck with each other for a while, so I'm interested in finding ways to have a little more fun with it. There's a lot of neat looking rides on board here, from what I've seen the couple times I've browsed the forum over the years. Finally decided I might as well register here. Should get some great ideas, I think.

Previous trucks = a '75 Suburban 3/4 ton, w/ full time 4wd and a 350. Also had a 70 C-10 way back in High school, had a tire-destroying 350, that I had more than my share of fun with. Have had several vehicles over the years, but the current fleet consists of the pickup above, a 97 Old Cutlass Supreme, a 94 pontiac bonneville SSEi, and my 84 Buick Regal T-Type that's in storage. Also enjoy snowmobiling in the winter, in both MN and WI when I can find snow. My wife and I have a couple Polaris sleds, that don't get near enough miles put on them.

Have a kid starting college this fall, so not having to chase to hundreds of HS sporting event will hopefully leave me more time to turn wrenches. For so long, the fleet of old vehicles has kept me too busy with basic repairs, so I felt I never had enough time to wrench for fun. Hoping that changes.

Work in architecture, have for the past 18 years. This fall will be 12 with my current firm. Business is kinda bad, but I've made myself fairly hard to replace, not only by working hard, but also being handy enough to fix most anything that happens to break around the office. Computers, light fixtures, plumbing, etc. It's not glamorous, but keeps it interesting.

Looking forward to seeing you all around the forums.

TomS.

Thanks for the welcome. I just bought a 1981 K5. Don't know much about them but ready to learn. It is leaking transmission fluid consistantly. Also the motors are going out on the windows looking for a good part store. The carburator is running a little hot. These are just a few of my upcoming projects and questions that need to be answered. Look forward to the discussions.

Hello!

I just joined the site. I've got an 89 K5 with 190K miles on it. It has the original 350 ci engine with a 4L80E trans, stock 10 bolts front and rear and a 2.5" lift and 33" cooper tires. Right now, its in the shop getting MAJOR surgery (a complete new floor form LMC Truck). I'm a work now, but pictures will follow.

Hey everybody, im a native missourian that recently moved to Phoenix. New to this site. I have owned and built K5's and Jimmys for roughly 16 years now. I prefer the pre 1980 models. I am currently performing a frame off restoration of a 1978 chevy half ton 4x4 pickup. I have customized an NV4500 and NP 208 to go behind a small block 400 i built for the truck. My current daily driver is a 1978 Bonanza with a sb 400. My first vehicle was a 1974 full confortable K5 with a hot 350 (450 hp). I worked in a body shop and treated her to a full restoration and build. I loved driving the Blazer and I still see it as the best vehicle I have ever owned. But like a fool I sold her when I recieved a high enough offer. And that is how I have been through so many chevys. I buy one, restore it, and someone always wants it. I love restoring these vehicles so selling them is a bit hard but I always look foward to restoring another one. I have a ton of parts that I am willing to sell for 1973-1987 full size chevy 4x4's and am always looking to buy parts. My only gripe with people using the Blazers, Jimmy's and trucks, is when someone takes an almost spotless vehicle and cuts it up and turns it into a climber or mudder. There are a lot fewer restorable Blazers, Jimmys, and trucks now. So if you have a nice Blazer, Jimmy, or truck please let us preservers take it and buy an old beater to chop up. I defenitly do not want to see the pre 88 full size 4x4's become an endangred species. I don't build trailier queens and believe in using these vehicles, but within reason, that way our kids and grand kids have some of these vehicles to restore and enjoy.

Hello everyone. My name is Aaron and I'm from San Luis Obispo County in California. I have previously owned a 1977 GMC Stepside pickup about 10 years ago until I accidentally wrapped it around a telephone pole, "I swear the throttle stuck!" I am currently in the process of hunting down a Blazer preferrably '73-'75 model and I saw this site and wanted to know all of the in's n out's of these awsome machines before I get one. I knew my '77 pretty well and I know they are not much different, but I am new to the 4X4 world; so please be patient if I ask stupid questions.
