Hey All,
New to the forum, thought I'd throw out my intro. I'm Tom, live in the suburbs of Minneapolis, MN. Grew up with a father that worked for Ford, but somehow have ended up with virtually all of my cars being GM. Wierd.
Currently own a 1985 Chev K-10, 305, 700r4. Stock, essentially. Had an old Camaro that was going to be top of my project list, but had to sell that off last fall, due to a few economic troubles. Realized that my truck and I are probably stuck with each other for a while, so I'm interested in finding ways to have a little more fun with it. There's a lot of neat looking rides on board here, from what I've seen the couple times I've browsed the forum over the years. Finally decided I might as well register here. Should get some great ideas, I think.
Previous trucks = a '75 Suburban 3/4 ton, w/ full time 4wd and a 350. Also had a 70 C-10 way back in High school, had a tire-destroying 350, that I had more than my share of fun with. Have had several vehicles over the years, but the current fleet consists of the pickup above, a 97 Old Cutlass Supreme, a 94 pontiac bonneville SSEi, and my 84 Buick Regal T-Type that's in storage. Also enjoy snowmobiling in the winter, in both MN and WI when I can find snow. My wife and I have a couple Polaris sleds, that don't get near enough miles put on them.
Have a kid starting college this fall, so not having to chase to hundreds of HS sporting event will hopefully leave me more time to turn wrenches. For so long, the fleet of old vehicles has kept me too busy with basic repairs, so I felt I never had enough time to wrench for fun. Hoping that changes.
Work in architecture, have for the past 18 years. This fall will be 12 with my current firm. Business is kinda bad, but I've made myself fairly hard to replace, not only by working hard, but also being handy enough to fix most anything that happens to break around the office. Computers, light fixtures, plumbing, etc. It's not glamorous, but keeps it interesting.
Looking forward to seeing you all around the forums.
TomS.
