Hello

Hello im from Minnesota not a current k5 owner yet but will be soon. a little about my self, married, 2 kids, dedicated GM owner

hey hey

hi everyone this is tyler sorry i havent posted any thing i had sold my k5 right after i goined.... i just got another blazer i couldnt stay away from the k5 i like them too much. had a question about the front drive shaft the one that i got is brand new but seems too long what is the BAD about not having any slack for the yoke to move at normal street stance????????????? thanks guys

Frist of all welcome, you picked a good site to gain knowledge about your K-5.
If you don't have any slip in your drive shaft, the frist bump you'll hit will push the axle up and force the drive shaft through your transfer case and the t-case will loose.
I suggest not putting it in until you see a driveline shop about this problem.

Newbie

Hello to all I am new to Chevy's and this forum. I recently purchased a 1989 2500 Suburban 4x4 and hope that I fit in at this site. Not sure if it is a K5 only site??? There seems to be alot in common with the K5 and the Suburban so I figured it would be alright. Let me know if I am a misfit :D

Hello everyone. Not an owner of a K series truck......yet. I have my eye on a extremely clean (which is rare in MN) but completely stripped down govt 89 GMC 3/4 ton Suburban and am looking for some ideas to make it a little more plush. I have built a K series trucks in the past, but this will be my first "Burb"

Hello everyone

I'm Rob and just joined recently. I don't have a K5 yet but i'm here to learn a few things about them and hopefully picking up one soon.

Hello everyone.

I do not currently own a k5 but I am in the market. I am looking for a project that I can work on with my “daughter”… and it will be hers when she turns 16. Just in time to start another one for my son. Maybe when that’s all done I will actually get one for myself!!....oh yea then the wife will want one.

Finally after two years of completely remodeling my house (tore it down to the studs room by room) I will have some time for something fun….

Ken

New....

Hey guys I'm new here and to the Blazer community. I've always wanted one and finnally had a chance to pick one up. It's a 1985 K10 blazer. I live here in Houston Tx. and work at a hot rod shop in Spring. Just looking to gain a little knowledge about my truck.

What up?

I just bought an 86 K5. Don't know much about them, but have always wanted one...because they are simply cool looking. We will see how it turns out. Not sure how to post a pic....can u spell N-E-W G-U-Y...

glad to finally be on the site

i am sean i live in san diego for the past few years origanaly from boston area. i have a major addiction to chevy, in particular the blazer. i got a 70 jimmy i scored in san diego for $2000 with practacally no rust, i was amazed. i build 3 blazers in boston for woods and mud and they all rusted to hell even only being less than 10 yrs old. i took body off my 70 and stripped down to bare metal por 15 all under body and frame, it was a major under taking but well worth it. por 15 better be all it claims. it looks good 4yrs later though.

New to the site. Bought an '89 K5 last fall on a whim (the '78 CJ project just wasn't getting finished quick enough).

After driving the Blazer for a few months (including the two snowstorms here last winter), I noticed 2 things:
1) My "DD" pickup was spending a lot of time sitting in the driveway
2) The CJ just didn't seem as appealing anymore

The K5 had more cancer than I wanted to deal with, so it moved on to a new home (for what I paid for it, so I'm only out the little bit of work that went into it). Now I' looking for a more solid replacement that can eventually become the DD.

welcome

I noticed you mentioned the two snow storms this past winter, what part of virginia are you in? im in Appomattox just outside of lynchburg

I'm up in Charlottesville - the snowstorms just went way beyond what this area is equipped to deal with, plow-wise. Wish I had a picture of the K5 recovering my neighbors' new-ish Wrangler that they high-centered on a snowpile right in front of the driveway. Score one for the big ugly neighborhood eysore (and the truck).

BostonSean - hope my second post didn't sound snarky... I know what you mean about most of the older trucks around here. Just meant to say that I've learned my lesson about falling into the "need to get one right NOW" trap. I'm willing to bide my time and hope that I can track down one I can keep for a long while.

yeah i know what you mean, it was rare for that much snow here too, i was out riding trails in 18 inches of snow with my 79 gmc k1500 at the time it only had a 3 inch body lift and 33" tires but there was no stopping it, i went anywhere and everywhere i wanted to, now with 4 more inches of suspension lift and 39.5 iroks it should be great in any condition, built for mud though. 427 tall deck big block going in it very soon, just got to get headers for it and a different water pump and it will be ready to bolt in
