Rough Idle

Just became a member and i am hurting for some help. I have a 1991 K5 Jimmy with a rebuilt 350/ TBI with a mild cam and a 700R4. I idles downs at a stop occasionally and starts rocking back and forth like a drag car. Looks cool but annoying. Could it be the ECM? If so do I need to put the ACDU chip in it, at a loss, please help !!!

Newbie in Buffalo

I am currently in Buffalo, NY and just bought a '78 K5 with full time 4x4. I am still learning the rest of the ins and outs of this blazer. It's my second time owning one, first was an '87 a few years back.

Thanks for the welcome mat! I work for my local township in the highway dept.,and try to keep all our equipment in top working order. I like to go see auto racing and do a lot of camping too! Retirement is getting closer. I hope to build a friendship with you members, thanks again!

Introductions....

Hello my name is Greg and I reside in Evanston WY, I am a proud owner of a 1991 "Harley Davidson Edition" K5 blazer w/ a factory 3/4 ton 2.5" spring lift sitting on 1/2ton axles (front 10b and a rear 12b, both open) and I cant wait to see what this site has to offer

Hi Guys, I just picked up a 1987 chevy suburban 350 auto 4x4, the biggest thing for me was it wasnt completely rusted which in CT that can be a rare thing, and it has a US Gear underdirve unit which the previous owner knew nothing about. I got the truck pretty cheap and now im in the process of getting the body squared away. The interior is nice, everything works right down to the cigarette lighter its got a saggy rear healiner but not a huge issue. This site has already proved very useful and the guys out there are clearly ready to help if someone gets in over their head, which could be me in the future so look out :P

Shes bone stock but solid and has been religiously cared for. Ive got big plans for her since CHEVY had such big plans for em with the new body style and such. Im all ears for anybody that wants to talk chevy/k5.:draw:

New Member from Upstate/Northern New York

Been in the off-road whirl wind for about 25 years until taking a break about 5 years ago. Now my daughter and I are looking to put together her first vehicle or a '84 K5.

The project truck happens to be one I put together for a friend in '96 and he has let go, so it does need a motor, tranny, some rust and some front end work. He blew the rear out and thru in a OEM 10 bolt just to move it around, so that needs to go also.

Still have to work out the details of the purchase, I doubt I will pay much in cash as I will likely end up trading something amongst us two. As soon as I end up with it I will post pics. Right now it has 4" Skyjacker and 35" BFG MT, mild 350 with turbo 350 and NP205.

I would like to put a newer '95 or so nose on it also, has anyone else done that yet?

Joe

Maybe down the road when the whole house thing is over. There is a Late 80's model Jimmy about three hiuses down that is for sale. It looks pretty decent, lifted, 35+ inch tires, body looks straight. I think I saw it for sale on CL.:woot:

Hello Everyone,

I am Ben, a big GM buff and auto enthusiast. I am new to K5's and I just bought my first for $750. I am the proud new owner of a 1985 GMC Jimmy. Runs and drives smooth and 4x4 works great. The truck came with a bunch of other goodies to put on the truck including an brand new Edelbrock Torquer intake, a new in box tailgate, an old clarion cd player, and even a classic rock CD. Not bad if you ask me.

Here are the specs:
- SBC 350
- 700R4 trans
- Aftermarket Carb
- Long Tube Headers
- Flowmaster true dual exhaust

The body has some rust, however the worst rust is on the floors. I need to weld in some new floor pans. Maybe some of you can lead me in the right direction to do the job right and save some cash in the process. I am also looking for ways to improve the off road capabilities.

Besides that I am also looking to improve the gas mileage (Even though it does not seem too bad.). Fix up the body and get it into shape for winter and some wheeling.

I also have an 1986 Trans Am 305TPI project that I would like to swap the fuel injection setup on to the Jimmy and take the intake and car an swap them onto the Trans Am for a future twin turbo rig. The TPI intake produces lots of torque, perfect for a truck not so for a sports car. The TA will serve as a track car exclusively. so its perfect.

Looking forward to conversing with you all. Thanks!

Hello all,
Good to be back on this forum, I've missed the info i can find on here. My current project is a mix and match K-20 that im trying to get running again.

Hello all my name is Brian and I have had many 70's model chevy's. I curently own a 71 Blazer. It is stock and never been cut, dinged, or messed with. It really is stock. I am super stoked to get it running. It has been sitting for about 15 years and when the original owner did drive it it was to the dump or rocky point. The only thing that was done to it was a new 350 30 over and an ignition. If there are new guys wondering if its worth the 25 dollar, just do it. I am open to suggestions and opinions on what would work the best on my rig.
