hey everyone, looks like i'm the newest member. my name's rob, i'm 22 and live in northern maine. i have an 89 "v10" blazer 350/350 mostly stock, sitting on 33x10.5s and 3" blocks in the rear. having some drivability issues at the moment, if anyone wants to check out my first post and provide some insight it's located in the "Garage" section (apparently i can't provide a link until i've made 5 posts or more)

hi all. this is a new guy here....in more ways than one. i bought my first K5 today. i bought a 1987 chevy silverado edition k5. woo hoo! Finally! this will be a toy for me and am really looking forward to the endless amounts of mods that are possible. so far everything is stock. can you believe the tops never been off? at least this is what i was told by the previous owner, who owned it since 1989.
heres an interesting little fact. this original 350 has 374k miles!!!!!!!!! just goes to show how long a "proven" engine will last if it is properly maintained. and yes it needs rebuilt, but still cool to here when you're a chevy fan. thanks in advance to everyone for sharing their knowledge.

I just joined the site in hope to pick up info on how to fix my bomb of my K5 i just bought. I have a 83 K5 blazer with lots of rust, it has been SBC swapped by a PO as it came from GM with a 6.2. it has no lift running 35s as I cut the fenders. I have repaired some of the holes in the floor, where it rusted out behind the seats and where someone cut a hole to work on the sending unit, with fiberglass untill funds allow all new pans. I swapped the grill and HL trim with ones outta a 86 PU as the 83 parts were busted thanks to the PO and the 86 parts were free. I plan on making this thing into a full size trail rig. Any members on here from GA?

My name is Brady, been browsing the site for awhile and just recently traded my quad for a 89 k5. It has 1 tons under it, hydro assist steering, 8in suspension, shackle flip, offroad designs shackles, 1in body lift, and sitting on 39.5 swampers. Well post some pics when I can.

Hello all! I'm excited to have a reason to share this forum with all of you. My name is Rick, I live in Siloam Springs Arkansas, I'm in my 40s, and have always had a soft spot for the K5.
I just put money down on a 1988 K5 Blazer. I'm not a rich man, and had to scratch together enough money to convince the seller to hold the truck for me until my tax return gets here. The truck had the motor rebuilt a year ago. The PO deleted the tbi in favor of an Edelbrock top-end, including heads, intake, and carb. He also opted out of the original transmission for a turbo 350, stating that he didn't think it would be good to have overdrive with large tires. He then added 35-inch Swampers, and Skyjacker 6-inch lift with turbo shocks with remote reservoir. Finishing out his mods are a full MSD ignition, coil, and distributor with ignition module remote-mounted to the dash inside the truck. He also installed hedman headers, 3-inch exhaust, and flowmaster 40-series mufflers.
Here's the kicker. Last summer, the PO loaned this truck to a friend. This "friend" then proceeded to drive the truck around Tulsa interstates all afternoon while only in second gear. The PO now states that the engine is seized.
With all the extra goodies, I still feel that $1600 is a steal.

I remember looking for mustang parts, and thought it would be much easier to look for chevy truck parts. I'm sure we've all been there before at one time. Well, I got this truck for $1,200 then said, "Man this is going to be easy to fix-up." Ok..Ok..You can...Stop laughing now...That why I joined the form.

Hello to all, I'm Richie from Long Island, NY.My current ride is the Casa Grande pictured. It was the all tan truck (#1676) from Milford, Delaware purchased in Sept. 08.(repainted spring 2010) I've been driving blazers for the past 22 years,but this one is an absolute blast. I can't take it out without being asked " What is that". Trucks drivetrain is a stock 400ci, auto trans, and np203 transfer case w/ parttime conversion, perfect for chasing stripers up and down the Long island beaches. Also a member of the yahoo group Chevyk5BlazerChalet.

HI Everyone. Doug on this side. I have a 92 S-10 with the 4.3l in it presently. Recently bought a Mercedes 300 TD. Going to start doing a swap in early 2011 if God says the same. Need to get my adapter assembly and a cheap truck to continue after work projects while my main ride gets attention. When I start I will see about doing some more post. Till then , keep on dieseling. Proud new ownere of a '90. I decided I needed a 4x to better get around in the snowy Mount Shasta area. I was originally looking at jeeps, cherokee on the cheap and trying to get into a wrangler for under 4k.
A friend turned me on to his k5 w/ 6"lift, 36's and a roll bar, but lots of rust/dirt, etc....well used, but still strong running and reliable. I started looking for something alittle more clean, and came upon this.

There was exactly one of these available at the time that looked as good as this, the rest all had some issues. This one has a couple (easily overlooked and fixed, tho). One MAJOR requirement was that I was able to reg/drive home. and most that I looked at had reg/ smog problems or I couldn't drive it away.
I looked at it sunday before christmas in sacramento, and picked it up on tuesday, driving home in 45deg. weather with the 'easily overlooked/fixed' MISSING HEATER CORE. I was prepared, but still, it got COLD once the sun set and we hit the mountains.
I'm nearing 1k miles already ,with half of it off road
on some logging trails, or thick snowstorms up to the ski park.New from Illinois

My dad has had a K5 on the farm since I was born and some of my best memories as a child were spent sitting in my custom seat built over the center console, riding around with the hard top off of his '73. This blazer, "The Outlaw", has since been retired to the shed and I know he dreams of restoring it someday. He has owned more K5's than he can probably count and I completely blame him for my obsession.
Since the '73, we've also had a '72, an '83, and a '77.
When I went away to college, (I am currently pursuing a degree in Ag Science) Dad decided to purchase a Blazer for me. I proudly own an '85 which is rightfully named "The Bitch". In the past year, I've replaced the transmission and the transfer case. We've had to trailer her home a time or two, but I just can't seem to kill her completely. She is NOT much to look at, but I love her.
Today, we picked up another K5 to add to our ever-growing collection (This one makes 6 total that are currently on the farm). It has a solid body and is my favorite of the bunch - probably just because she's new.
I like reading other's Blazer stories and can always use the technical help when Dad and I just don't know what to do. I look forward to hearing from the other members as well.

Non paying membership status does have restrictions on access but, iirc, you should be able to post in the Garage, the vendor forums and you can reply (only) to sale/wanted posts.
Spend some time and look around at what's here, most find it's well worth it for to do the $25 membership for full access.

Hi all. I have always wanted a Blazer and recently the stars fell into alignment and I purchased an 88 K5 from JIM88K5 here on the forums. Since I've only owned her a short time I have only had the opportunity to replace the fuel pump, perform the XJ steering upgrade and installed the LMC headlamp harness. Next week the Hella tractor lights go on the rear so I can see where I am backing, and then I tackle the transfer case leak.
All in all I couldn't be happier. I am really having fun with this rig, and this site makes all the little things much more bearable.
