hello all!

thanks to everyone putting there valuable info on here. love the sight i just traded my 1993 s-10 for a 1991 suburban v1500 its beat to hell and rusty but i love it already! had to put a fuel pump and sending unit in her about a week into owning it hope that's all the bad luck to have with this beast!
 
Hi, my name is Jim. Recently picked up a decent 89 k5 from a local guy, and was excited to find a group dedicated to them. I've been a k5 fan for years and finally convinced my wife we needed one. As stated, she's an 89, 4" lift with 38.5" Gumbos stuffed underneath. Got a few problems, but a great platform to start on. Looking forward to the fun and the challenges. Gleaning all sorts of info from the site! Thanks
 
New Guy

SO, I'm the new guy for now. Been in the Navy for 14 yrs now and bought my '77 Jimmy from an Army guy on base. slowly looking forward to fixing it up nice and glad i can daily drive it now. I have many fond memories of me and my dad in his '85 Silverado and I'm looking forward to that experience with my daughter. And yes I do tell my wife it's hers but dont tell her that.

If any Connecticut guys know of a place to get some rockers replaced let me know cause everyone only seems to do collision work. well till i get some time to learn to weld myself that is.
 
Welcome aboard guys...glad to have you check in. If you've been lurking around a bit you've noticed the garage and driveway are pretty tech heavy. Thanks for your service ITMWIH's....:bow:
 
hey there. been lurking for a while but I don't remember if i posted here or not. I'm in Central IL.

the title says that i own a blazer. it is/was a 88 model. it has the TBI 350. its a fresh 70s block rebuild with the TBI top end, for now. i've been building this for a year. 14bff rear and HD 10B front. disc brake conversion, 52" fronts, 54" tahoe rears, homebrew shackle flip. i just swapped in a sm465/np205. i built new floor substructure with built in sliders, and replaced the cab floor with flat sheet metal. bench seat for now. its almost ready to run, getting the rear driveshaft cut this weekend, ordering shocks, and building a front square tube shaft. DIY4X a-bomb front bumper. also dovenosed and dovetailed :D

it's definitely a work in progress.

hey im chris new here

I have a bad ass 89 k5 blazer that's my baby and I'm stuck I cannot find the proper transmission crossmember for it when I had bought it it only had a two wheel drive crossmember since I have got everything for it so it can be used as a 4x4 like it was intended to be but I'm having no luck findiing one can anyone help stock or aftermatket idc I just need one so I can go off roadin.

Hey all!!!

Hey all and thanks for letting me in with CK5. Always have and will be a chevy truck guy. So now for my main question... I have a 1990 Suburban with Barn Doors and want to know how to go about switching to a tailgate. I have a cool idea that if I can switch my barn doors to a tailgate I plan on cutting the roof of my Burban aft of the rear doors and add the K5 Blazer top to it. Any ideas? Hope to hear back from anyone that has done this or has attempted it and what I am in for.
 
It's been done. You'll need a donor K5 to cut and paste parts from. In that case you'll have everything you need from the donor. This will shorten the rear of the burb, I dunno, a foot or so.
 
New old guy here:D Well I am from Gardner Mass 54 years old and love all lifted 4x4s. Now I am not into bashing peoples truck everybody has there own preferance I am here for information only. My truck is a 1995 ram 1500 lifted 3in on 33in rubber Gibson ceramic Headers, Magnaflow highflow exhaust, more mods coming. I know this is a chevy forum, like I said I am here for info only. Basically I am looking to chat with RIPPEDK5. If I am not welcome here noprob and no hard feelings. Happy trucking to all.

You are most certainly welcome here. We have a regular contributor who is strictly a Ford guy. He hangs around here cause this place is chock full of decent people.

You are definitely welcome here :waytogo: , there are quite a few of us who have Dodge tow rigs/ work trucks (me included). My brother is a member here and the closest thing he has to a GM is his 89 wagoneer, granted it will be powered by the drivetrain from an 03 2500hd soon (6.0. 4L80E).
So welcome to CK5 :D

You'll need the gate from the K5 I believe. Pretty sure they are different.

Another newbie

Hey everyone, been searching through the forums for a few weeks now and decided to join after finding all the great info on here. Already has paid for itself! Im from Fargo, ND and unfortunately don't have the opportunity to get into all the crawling you guys do, but I did pick up an 87 Gmc Burb for a good price. Gonna be my hunting rig/winter dd. I already can tell that this site isn't gonna be good for me based on the parts stockpile that has already started in my garage! Picked up the 3/4 ton axle this morning lol, and so it begins. . . .
 
New in Colorado Springs

Greetings. I am new to this forum but not really new to cars. Started in vws when I was a kid, had a 59 and 71 bug, got into vintage American tin a few years ago, had a 51 Chevy truck and currently driving as a daily a 53 Buick Special. Had the itch to build something tall and picked up a grand wagoneer, It went to hell and I never really cared for it (too small). Though my family, 2 kids and three dogs sure like mountain camping. So currently I am on the quest for the perfect 87-91 burban for winter driving and mountain four wheeling. I scraped together some cash from the remains of my jeep and have been scouring high and low for the right burban. Oddly enough as I was assembling the cash, they were plentiful and now the springs has very little to offer... I have a few new leads and the few others I scoped left much to be desired... But patience will be rewarded. I look forward to reading and learning.
