Hey guys, new guy from western Massachusetts , been building and playing with k5's and any chevy for that matter since i was a kid..I own a small classic car restoration shop and love anything with wheels and an engine.. My current rides consist of a 87 k5 , an 83 shortbed , and a 79 k5 i just picked from AZ to be my next project for myself , that's about it for the trucks , i have a few cars also 66 nova SS and a 72 nova ss , i wont get into the daily driver stuff..Been lurking around the site for years and there is alot of valuable information here and has helped me out of a few jambs so i figured it's only right i join and try to give back if i can in any way.....I will start a new thread in the pictures section and post a few pics of my rides, i know everyone loves pics........

Hey. Name is James live here in New Mexico. Used to be obsessed With this site checking it 3 4 times daily. Then my blazer took a **** and had a kid then life happened!!! Well that was high school 9 years ago. So here I am again obsessed! Lol. Still have my blazer sitting in the back (can't get the courage to sell it yet) but I just recently acquired another blazer, that runs! Has 15" of lift and 44" swampers. The kids convinced me to trade my 70 camaro for it. But glad to be back and see how many more members there are and how much info is on the site now!!

OKay so here it gos.

I am new to the world of blazers but found one built the year i was born and had been wanting to buy an older truck to work on. So now I am now infected with the blazer bug. :yikes::yikes::yikes: My wife seems to be taking it well as i have told her it is going to be the back up truck. :whistle: (For the end of the world.) :whistle:Anyways as soon as i do my 5post i will post a pic of the truck. The truck seems to run good needs a little tlc. I live in oklahoma and have some experience with rebuilds but am looking fwd to this forum for help.
 
My name is Ed and I live on a tiny island in the Pacific Ocean called Guam. We are a US Territory and the home to many US military bases. We have a strong tourist industry here and many are enjoying off road related tourist activities.

We have a great off roading community here. There are many trails on both government and private lands. Our off roaders have been featured on both TV and magazine features. We also have racers competing in international and domestic sports events.

You would think that we did not have much talent from this tiny island. But famous off roaders like Ivan Stewart, Malcolm Smith, Alexander Smith, and Rory Chenoweth have made it all the way to Guam to compete.

I have been building K5 Blazers and 4wd Chevy trucks for about 40 years. And I can't count on the number of them that I have owned. My current daily driver Blazer is an 87 K5 military Blazer with the 6.2l diesel. It has been modified with air conditioning, 6 inch lift, 15x14 inch Alcoa wheels with 35 inch Mickey Thompson MT tires, off road lights, and an on board air compressor. I am currently installing a set of one ton CUCV axles (Dana 60/ Corporate 14), a custom turbo setup, and a 24 volt winch off a military rescue truck. When I am done, I am probably going to go to 40 inch tires on 17 inch wheels with 12 inches of lift.

I have lurked on this forum for a very long time and decided that I might have something to contribute to this community. I hope that my contributions will be helpful to many of the forum members.
 
I'm new with a 72 K5 CST

Hello all,

I live on California's Central Coast and I recently bought a 72 K5 CST 4x4 with a 350/350. It is 98% original and stock. When and if I am ever allowed to post pictures I will do so. I plan on fixing it up but not restoring it. I will be asking for help on minor rust repair issues, top rebuild/repair, and general knowledge & experience questions. Let me know if I can be of any help as well. I look forward to meeting people and learning all I can.

I've lived in the greater Phoenix area for the past 10-ish years before that I escaped the SanFran bay area where I was born and raised (pacifica)

I have a 02 suburban with the 8.1, a Toyota based cj2a crawler but mainly I dirtbike ride with a 300xcw, 650L, trials bike or xr100 ........ I used to mountainbike ALOT but that was back in the bayarea :waytogo:

Ive been on Pirate for what seems like forever and figured I should signup here as I keep looking at 67-87 blazers and smile

Oh well :D

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself and the truck. My names dan and I live in California and I'm a grunt with the Marine Corps. Im looking forward to moving out of this circus sooner than later to MT, or ID. The truck is an old 84 M1009 Blazer and I love that thing. Best 1600 bucks I have ever spent. But right now I'm trying to get it to rugged reliability and want it to be practical enough to be a daily driver. Not looking to make it a rock machine or anything crazy.

So far I have done a lot of maintenance, like engine stuff and seals. Drive line was fully reworked, spicer u joints, etc. Just got new rubber and love them (goodyear wrangler duratracs 33's). A lot of little interior stuff and rust removal, but my next big project is Crossover steering. Got the 2wd steering box and am finding out how expensive all the parts can be.

Well anyway good to meet you all.
 
My quest begins

Decided to start a profile finally! Been lurking around the site for a long time. Currently own a 1991 V2500 with a rusty body that runs like a champ. Very interested in doing a crew cab body swap. We will see if money and the old lady let it happen.

I can't say how much I've learned from this forum over the past few months. The time has come for me to become a participant, rather than a spectator.

I've a wife and a bunch of kids so I need a truck that can fit all of us, but I'm unhappy with Chevy's current offerings (a new suburban costs more than 50K!) I've decided to build my own.

Hello, my name is David. I live just south of Charlotte, NC. I've had several square bodies over the years ( 1982 C20, 1983 C10, 1990 R2500 Suburban, 1985 C10 extended cab is current) and just bought a 1990 V2500 Suburban. I just have the last two now, but the 85 will have to be sold soon. This V2500 Sub is my FIRST 4X4 ever! I might need some help on that part, but I can tear down and put back together any 2WD square with my eyes closed :rolleyes: I hope to be a useful member and not a user only. BTW, the user name stands for my 1968 Camaro RS/SS that I've had for many years. David

Hello all, I finally joined after a buddy talked me into it. I've done squarebody pickups since I was 16, started with an 83 stepper, sold it a year later to get an 87 fleet which I've had for almost 20 years. It's 2WD and low (hence the name).

I've always liked the K5s. Had a failed attempt at a 77 rust bucket years back, that was a horrible purchase. Bought an 89 Jimmy last year as my DD. Still driving it, each day brings new ideas or problems to solve. I want what my buddy calls a poser truck. Nice lift, well built, but suited more for daily pavement then hardcore wheeling.

Finally got the AC working well enough to fend off some of the 105F. I've done a lot of minor mechanical over the past year. After I get the rust repaired, I'll get back to some safety improvements. (mild cage - mostly so I can install shoulder belts in the back seat, rebuild front brakes & install discs in back, list goes on).

Trying to read as much as possible before posting repetitive questions.
