Good looking rig. 1991 was a very low production year and was the last year for this body style. Manual trans is pretty rare on the fuel injected models. Looks to be a six inch lift but i could be wrong. I'd like to have it, but i think $4500-$5000 is the mark as far as price goes. Then again, trucks seem more pricey out your way versus in SC. What's up guys. I have a 89 K5 that I recently purchased as my first 4x4 after restoring a 85 short wide C10 for the past 5 years. I am very accustomed to square body trucks and am working on my knowledge of K5s. My Blazer has the original TBI 350 rebuild 700r4 and np241 tcase. 4.10 gears front and back with a limited slip rear end. Corporate 10 bolts front and rear. Silverado package and surprisingly everything works! A/c works and still with r12! I enjoy anything mechanical and outdoors. My K5 is my daily driver and I am wanting to make it somewhat off road capable as I camp in extremely remote places. I guess that's it? I am open to any advice that can be offer

Hey guys ... currently have a 1978 K5 Blazer that I would consider to be a great 'in-betweener' ... In other words ... Not a trailer princess or trailer heap ... LOL
Truck in really good shape ... currently building a dart 427 small block. Should be completed soon... (I Hope) ... Pretty excited ... truck had a 383 with 20k on motor. Just wanted a little more of .... well you guys know ... Once completed I hope to have some pics.

I was a member like 10 yrs ago when I owned my 77 GMC K25 the first time. Sold it around 7 yrs ago and now have baught it back, so I'm a member again! It's a good ol truck, converted from 1/2 ton 2wd to 3/4 ton 4x4. rebuilt 350, T400, 44 & 14 blt sitting on 36" Swamper radials. It needs some TLC since the previous owner neglected it some. Looking for good ideas & answers on this site. Thanks--

1988 Chevy Shortbed Step-side Project
Hi,
I caught the 4x4 bug in the early 70s and bought a 73 Blazer which I loved and was regretfully talked into selling when the big gas shortage struck.
At that time I bought a 58 M38A1 jeep that had been converted to 12volts and spent the next 4 years with the help of my dad and uncle dropping in a 327 ci Chevy V8 and a few transmissions in her along with becoming familiar with every part on her and joined a jeep club in CA.
I still have her however she needs to be gone through again.
I picked up my 1988 Chevy Shortbed Step-side I am now rebuilding with a 383 stroker engine, headers, dual exhaust, and custom chip set.
My current focus is on finding 3/4 ton Chevy front and rear drive axles running 4.10 gears for the added strength if it is possible rather than buying just the ring and pinion gear sets and having them installed.
If any of you have experience if this will work and if so what additional work is needed to get the 3/4 ton axles to bolt to my truck.

Hi everyone, My name is Howie. I'm from Lancaster NY just outside of buffalo. I joined this site to gather information on my current project and hopefully share some info to others.
My current project is a 1977/86 suburban. I couldnt find the exact truck I wanted locally so I picked up a 1986 2wd with a 6.2l diesel and also a 1977 3/4 ton 4x4 with a small block. The goal is to take the '86 body and put it on the '77 frame, use the '77 front clip and axles. The '86 body is in great shape and has the rear barn door which is what I wanted. The '77 body shell was toasted from WNY winters. I was origonally going to use the 6.2l diesel with a 700r4 out of my old '88 chevy and the '77 203 transfer case and axles. I became tired of dealing with the 6.2l diesel and decided I will use a Detroit 4-53t backed with a 4l80 transmission running a manual valve body and a 205 transfer case. The truck will have a 4" suspension lift and a 3" body lift to clear the engine and also 37" tires on recentered hmmwv rims. It is a very ambitious project but should be alot of fun.

88 was the first year for IFS front end for the 1/2 and 3/4 ton pickups. Are you talking about swapping in 3/4 ton IFS stuff or doing a solid axle conversion?
Or, is your truck an 87 with a solid front axle? If so, the 3/4 ton axles are a bolt in. That's what I did to my K5.

Guess I'm the new guy, whats up? Name is Robby, from Utah. I've had my Jimmy for about a year and a half and have done little here and there with it..
