Introductions & Greetings

New and saying hello

Hey everyone. Thanks for taking the time to read my post. Names Brandon and i'm 28. I live in the South Bay Area of California. I recently traded a few of my firearms for a new toy. I picked up a 1972 GMC Jimmy. A few of my friends have 2nd gen K5s and I wanted something of my own to play with. Its a bit of a rolling project. It runs great and the engine feels strong but I'm not used to driving old cars. The brakes are pretty bad and the steering feels sloppy the suspension is really soft and feels like a lot of body roll is going on. Not sure what is expected of a car 40 years old but I know i'm unfairly comparing it to today's cars. Looking forward to discussing projects with you guys I seem to end up right back to this sight every time I try to research a repair or mod. Thanks again for reading and I can't wait to post some pics for you all. :woot:

Howdy everyone! Its been a long time since I have been onhere. Kind of took a leave of absence but I am back in the states and soon to be back to wrenching on my junk.

Currently live in Forest Va, but unfortunately all of my junk is still in the SC area at the mayors house.

Anyways, I will be a bit more active on here than I have the past 7 years:waytogo:, that is if this place is still alive and kicking like it used to be. :dunno::woot:

Hello! My name is Matt and I'm in CT. a few months ago I found a local 86 K5 Silverado, one owner, 99K miles, and near mint! ironically this was my first plow truck when growing up in Maine, even down to the color package. :waytogo: I was thrilled to bring it home and make some improvements. In the Spring I hope to add dual exhaust and upgrade the intake to make it run a little smoother! may use it in the future to tow a car for fun, but really enjoy the ride and the many uses so far.

will post a picture once I figure out how on this forum!

Welcome fellow New England K5er! I hope you do something to keep that truck from rusting away to nothing.

You will need 5 posts before you can post pics or you can link them from a pic hosting site.

Greg's K5

Hello All,

I'm in Southeastern Virginia. This is the K5 Blazer I ordered in 1986 with a fresh coat of paint. 5.0L 700R4 with 282,410.8 + miles. Anyone recognize the painter's mistake?

Hi everyone, new on here from Oklahoma City area, I've got an 85 K5 with 6 inch suspension lift, 3 inch body lift, 35" steel radials ( I know to small of a tire for that big of a lift, it was done by the PO) I've got a lot of experience in air ride suspension and fab, this 4wd is kinda new to me.

Not really. :dunno:

I've never seen white mirrors though... not that style anyway.

496truck; These mirrors were a low buck upgrade from the standard. They cost less than the stainless. Ordered them and the wheels instead of the Ralley wheels and Stainless mirrors because the monthly amount was already higher than I really could afford.

Painter's mistake: When he looked up the color code from the glove box, he stopped at the first match for the year. The Chevy cars use the same code but it was a metallic blue of a lighter shade. The Chevy Truck code was the darker blue. When he pulled the top color there was only one match. Hence the mismatch. I caught it during the cut in, but liked the color so kept it.

Howdy, I'm Tim. I live in Houma, LA, been down here for almost two years, originally from northern IN. Id been looking for a crew cab long bed C/K 20/30 for a while, something about a mildly lifted square body is so awesome, and I had found a few but all way out of the price range I have. Im paying off my '07 sierra classic so money is a little tight. But I was searching for some rims and tires so I can get rid of the 22s i am stuck with and came across a beautiful 1976 C25 Suburban Sierra Grande...drum roll...for $600 D: I had to have it. So basically I picked it up the day before xmas eve and now I have what I want in a slightly different package. All the floors are immaclant, they were bed lined very well and the frame is mint. Body wise there are a couple blemishes and itll need two or three small patches. Its also drivetrain-less, originally a 454/auto truck, notsure on the gear size its a 14 bolt.

Plans are a diesel (cummins more than likely) and a six speed. and a small lift.

Lets just say my drive home from gulfport was very dangerous and I couldnt go over 30mph, it took 8-9 hours to get home for a 2 and a half hour drive...everything that happened,it could have been an episode of Roadkill.

Pictures dont do justice to how clean it is.

$600 Wow! Are the stripes painted or are they decals...looks like somebody has already done the body work

There painted on and they run down the entire truck bumper to bumper. It has been repainted at some point but it some of the areas are starting to bubble. Ill need to patch the lower rear portion of the drivers fender and the drivers outer rocker.

Im still giddy for what I paid for it.
