Introductions & Greetings

I hate advance auto parts !

Dear Santa

I know it's after Christmas , but can you put Advance Auto on you Naughty List for the next like 100 years !

Try to make a long long story short, !

Back in September 2013 I took about 2 hours typing in all the parts I needed to rebuilt my 1974 Super Beetle

and did this because they said you get 25% of my online order (which was there first lie) and when I hit the

send button it wouldn't take my order, and it was late at night, so I gave up. So the next morning I got up

thinking it be in my checkout basket I would just hit send again WRONG it was there so I typed it in again

another two hours, hit the send button, same thing wouldn't take it !!aughhhhh, so I called the 800 # and

talked to Clarence, he apologized and said they were having computer problems and he would take it over

the phone and be nice still give the 25 % of ONE item only, big deal but I needed the parts, so Clarence gave

me my conformation # after I gave him my credit card #, oh yeah did I tell you my mechanic had me blocked

in for only a two week lift TIME , and I told him how important it was to get the parts in two days ! shipping,

well I waited FOUR days, so now I'm into 6 days of my lift time, so I called Clarence and he's not in and no

one there can find my conformation # so they said someone call me right back, they never Did ! so now I'm

into 7 days of my lift time which I'm paying for by the hour ! So the next day when I call Clarence apologized

and had to give him the order all over again, but I'm still have faith , he says he will over night them, no

charge, for shipping , well next day nothing, so now I call back and talk to a supervisor and he starts taking

care of me , but gee I get the parts in and they are all WRONG ! So now I've lost my lift time and had to pay

for it ! So now I call corporate and talk to many people , Robert, , Preston, Dee, Sam etc... now the tell me

they will take care of it and give me 75% (but they never did only 25% off) of parts so now I figure that will

help me make up cost of my lift time. Santa did I mention I don't have a car now for over 3 months now and I

broke my neck a year ago and had surgery on it so I have many many doctor appointments and physical

therapy that I have to pay for ! So now Santa its November and I get lift time back again for 2 weeks again , I

think I'm on my way to getting my car fixed NO ! when my mechanic opens the parts up they are all wrong

they sent me for a 1974 beetle Not a Super Beetle ! Santa maybe make it two hundred years . But now they

say ( oh yeah now I'm asking to talk to the CEO Darin Jackson, (Santa did I mention he has a private jet and
Mr. Darren R. Jackson
Chief Executive Officer and Director
Age: 48
Total Annual Compensation: $700.0K

but cant get pass his watch dogs and he

cant talk to me , So they say they are going to pay for all my lift time and make sure all the parts are right

now , Lies Lies So Santa they paid for only one week of lift time I had to pay the other three, they only gave

me 25% of parts, and they said 75%, Lies again ! Now its January 2014 I cant get on the lift now until

February so I have been with out a car for 6 months because Darin Jackson has INCORRIGBLE help ! I had

to spend Christmas with visiting by family because I had no car, So Santa Naughty list and Coal for a long

long time !

Name is Mark and I reside in Michigan. I've had this damn K5 in my pole barn taking up space for long enough. So two years ago I started my build. I have been documenting it on another site. But I feel its time for a change. I will be posting my build. Its up to a point where the body and frame need to be put together. But first I need to paint the body. Hope to learn from you guys.....Onward!

looks super clean. Once it's done plan on bringing it to silver lake. There's plenty of us guys from MI on here that run at the dunes.

Checkin in from Vancouver Island BC

Been building my 82 high sierra 35 for about 6 months now and just about ready for road trials. 8" lift, D60/14FF, 385/70/16 mud grapplers, DIY4x, ORD, and NWF parts.
Rear detroit, front true trac, 87 5.7, holley TBI, edelbrock intake, cam, long tubes, Harris tuning, painless wiring, 4 core rad, 00 windstar fans, ect... Crossover/Histeer, Moulded headliner w/ stereo & speakers, bedlined interior. She's nothing pretty and not quite fully assembled yet but hopefully in the next week or so. Paint to come in spring or summer.

Would upload a couple pics but can't figure out how to do it because theyre on my computer not online.

Third Chevy 4X4

Hello from Texas. I dont have any other social networking like Facebook and such, so this is my ony one. Owned a 1985 Chevy K10, 1997 Z71 , and now my only 4X4 is my 1977 K5 Blazer. Runs good except my Holley Carb, which I am still learning.

Question:

I started my K5 build over 2 years ago. I did make up a digital build book. Would it be out of line to post these pages until I start back up on my build? This would get people up to speed on my build. I am far from being finished. This is a sample of the formate. Thanks!

Sup fellas

Hi all---FNG here. Names Dan, 34---Air Force guy working in Tucson. Got an 84 K5 up in Phoenix that I'm working on. Has a tired 305 in it. I've gone ahead an installed a TC 4" EZ Ride lift, extended Napa brake lines, and purchased a set of 33-12.50 BFG Mud Terrains. Besides that, it's bone stock. Goal for the vehicle is to make it as reliable as I can for a daily driver, more than light use off-road, easy to maintain, better fuel mileage (bonus). This will be my bug-out vehicle that I plan on keeping forever. I'm fairly mechanically inclined, but you can't just throw "700R4" or "14 Bolt FF" and expect me to know what they are, the advantages/disadvantages to each, how to install them, when to choose them instead of other setups---still learning all this. Difficult to teach yourself by searching some 2,000 forum pages. Basically, I'm looking for ideal setups for my needs; engine, tranny, gears, driveline angles, axles and what matches to what/what I need to do ect. So far I'm considering a 4BT, 6.2L or a 350 turnkey for my engine options--researching each....but they all lead to many tangents! I'll keep diving into the forum, but any advice/suggestions would be MUCHO appreciated. Wonder if someone makes a book on building K5s with all the different options? That would be great.

Hello Everyone

My name is Bill and I live in Lakewood,Co. Me and my wife owned a 1977 K5 when we dated in HS about 15 years ago. After owning a few jeeps our family grew and now we have sold both jeeps and are getting another K5. We heard there was a huge group up here that loves these blazers as much as we did so here we are. We are looking at buy our K5 this march.

New member, new to Chevy.

Hey guys my names Michael. I live in Idaho and recently traided my 1989 f-150 (yes I'm a Ford guy) for a 1991 chevy 2500 suburban 4x4. It has the 350 with the heavy duty overdrive (so i was told). My family has a history of owning suburbans and ive always wanted one. So far I'm liking the burb, but repairs/ aftermarket parts will come slow as im young and just graduated college And dint make loads of $$$. But I'm happy with it and plan to have it for a while. Looking forward to using this forum a stapple referance. I would post a picture of it but I'm too retarded to figure out how.

Welcome milkman. Your not retarded. Your just special. for real, I think you need to pay CK5 some $$$ to do that. Like, $25 a year. I thought it was a free sight but found out otherwise. CK5 should just be a ap for $5. They would make more cash and I would buy it. On the otherhand, there is just a slew of information on here that is very valuable.

Welcome bill. I have a 77 K5 blazer and am loving it. Working on the carb right now. Exhaust will be next. Still have the original engine block tansmision and transfer case if you can believe that. Just did a compression check and all cylinders are good. She is running like a mo-sheen. Anyways, good luck on your search.

Hello all, I'm Dave and recently picked up a 78 K10 4WD Stepside. Its pretty much stock except for a 4" SL, rear step bumper, LED brake lights and single exhaust. I'm not new to C/Ks, 1st vehicle was a 76 Blazer that was my learning platform. It was a fun vehicle and learned a ton of stuff.

Original plan was just to have work vehicle for weekend stuff for the house but after finding the 78 almost all stock I'm thinking of a a restoral but not until I finish my other project 1st. it does have some dinks/dents and a little rust in the usual places but pretty solid IMO.

here are some pics...

Please tell me you're going to paint the wheels white and keep the hub caps.

Martin

yes, that's the plan. I am looking for some rally wheels as well. all the hub caps are in great shape except one it has a significant dent in it.

350/4sp/205, 12 bolt rear with factory lsd, dana 44 front, buckets w console, gauge package (unfortunately no tach), dual tanks, dual exhaust (now single), and the PO said it has 4.11s but its not on the RPO sheet and haven't verified it.

New member

Hello everybody, my name is David and im from Sweden. I just got myself a 89 Blazer 4x4, always wanted one and now i am a proud owner of one. Its the coolest and most fun car i know. All my previous cars has been Volvo's and Saab's so this is kind of new to me. It is a very good example with no rust and the former owner has taken well care of it.
My plan is only to keep it in it's good original style and have loads of fun with it. It's a really fun winter car.

Alaska or bust.

Hi all,
looking at rebuilding either an 87 or 90 suburban to drive the Colorado forest trails and possibly a trip to Alaska in 2016. not looking at building anything extreme, just something that can do some light off-road with the wife and two kids. any guidance is welcome.

Why '87 or '90? An '88 is almost identical to an '87. An '89 looks the same as a '90, but has a mechanical speedometer NP241. A '91 looks the same as a '90, but the 3/4 tons have the 4L80E.
