Introductions & Greetings

Why '87 or '90? An '88 is almost identical to an '87. An '89 looks the same as a '90, but has a mechanical speedometer NP241. A '91 looks the same as a '90, but the 3/4 tons have the 4L80E.

Martin

I guess he has an 87 and a 90 already.

Hi all,
looking at rebuilding either an 87 or 90 suburban to drive the Colorado forest trails and possibly a trip to Alaska in 2016. not looking at building anything extreme, just something that can do some light off-road with the wife and two kids. any guidance is welcome.

Nope, just two that he has his eyes on.

newbie following the links :)

Have watched a lot of you guys on youtube and started my K5 journey a few years ago I now own 2 a 75 that is four linked full cage built BBC ram assist steering fox coil overs and lockers front and back on 1ton axles with a 4speed rolling 39.5 boggers 4 wheel disc brakes and its a daily driver! the 85 is also a daily driver it is also 1toned on 38'' tsl's awesome sound system with dvd player JL audio speakers built sbc350 and 456 gears and a few other goodies :) have video's up of both trucks on youtube as well. I will admit I do not daily drive either one of them as I also have a built crew cab duramax that's just nice to be in lol BUT if I wanted to drive either of them daily I could and my 85 is tame enough for road trips even not so sure I would want to strap myself in the 75 for to long of a trip...guess if I had to the 75 is able and I would trust it just do not want to lol.

hey guys

hey guys, I'm Tom, I'm from Buffalo, NY and I just bought a pretty beat K5 that I'm hoping to fix up, then build for some trails. Its an 89 with 50,000 original miles, solid drivetrain and suspension, but the body is absolute ****. New rockers and floor pans a must, but fenders and **** are surprisingly good. 9" lift and bald ass 38s on it now.. theres a small body lift, and the rest is bigger leafs and a block in back. Owned by a city kid who liked the monster truck look but never wheeled it... big ass speakers in the trunk, and a dual exhaust  that ends a fewwww feet short of the ass end.

Hi guys im erik and im 16. I recently bought a k5 and It's the first vehicle that i paid for myself. k5's are my favorite suv, especially when lifted. got a 350 in it and 8 inches of lift sitting on 36" swampers which are getting low on tread :(. it's beat to hell and dirty as ****.. but i wanted a project. the truck sounds awesome and runs great just needs body work and paint.

At 16, with a truck like that, I would say your off to a good start.....Now all you need is find some tire and let the fun begin.

A truck from Buffalo with body rot? I don't believe it.:D

Hello everybody. Been lurking around the site for a while, decided I should probably contribute once in a awhile. I'm a 36 year old Helo Mech that loves turning wrenches. I bought a 1989 K5 last year with 179k, absolutely no rust (gotta love the high desert in Cali). Just in the last year I have put in 4.10s in the rear with a Yukon LSD and a ORD shackle flip kit. I have a Holley TBI I am about to put on but while digging around to put the flip kit on I found some fuel line problems, yay fun! See you guys around the board!

New/not so new

Hey, had to post, joined but hadn't posted - maybe this will let me post elsewhere.

I'll be back, will post info. Saying Hi To Nick O' :pimp:

Hello! Name's Trager, 21, from the rather boring parts of the state of Utah. I just took over ownership on a 1985 K5 Blazer in hopes of having a toy to go play in the mountains with. Not really big on making it into something too far from original, but I'd love some input and guidance in the field as I toy with the new monster. I look forward to looking around and seeing what ya'll have come up with, as well as sharing what I manage to come up with myself.

As a side note, I am also working on replacing the 4.3 in my S10 with another as the oil pump gave and the old block seized. Don't know if this is the place for that, but hey! There ya go. :D

My name is Will and I live in Oakhurst, Ca. Recently got a 77 K5 that's mostly stock except for the brand new 33" MTR's. No lift or performance mods yet but they will be coming. Looking forward to hanging out with you guys and stealing all your good ideas. :waytogo:

New and hunting

Hello all, I recently started looking for a blazer to buy and enjoy with my daughter and wife. The snow in Illinois sucks and I want to punch through it, not get stuck in it. I love the look of he 70 K5 so now I am hunting for one. I am getting bummed cause it looks like everybody wants it to fully restore it and drain the hell out of a pocket book. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I'll be reading and wishing I find something sooner or later.
