Introductions & Greetings

Sorry bud, but I did all my assaults from a helo, sounds like I had it alot easier than you

Hello everyone, it’s been awhile I’ve got a new project. 1990 K5 blue and white soon to be blue and grey maybe I will get pictures up as soon as I can

Im Derek, Hello from Portland Oregon, I'm a pro engine builder/ tuner/ mechanic for 20+ years and I hope not only that I can get some help with an 84 K5 I have but I hope I can offer technical advice where needed as well, thanks for having this K5 Forum!
Awesome! I’m pretty sure you can find whatever information you need for your K5 on here!

Folks, I've been absent from another forum / joined the wrong forum ... and finally deciding to jump into CK5. Happy to be here.

I've loaded some intro photos to my 1980 K5 Silverado (acquired in 2016 w/ only 65K miles).

I've included some pictures below (hopefully they come through alright). As for me, I don't have much experience working on trucks, but I hope to learn a few things along the way / stay out of trouble.

Currently looking at new tires, so you'll see me posting on that later today.

Looking forward to meeting other forum members...

John

Also, I'm getting a quote on doing an overhaul of the water sealing on the top. This is the one real scare on the rig. It seems there was a leak issue and the prior owner bolted the top with 8 lag bolts into the frame along the top and then caked a solid silicon caulking along the top.

Going to do what it takes to get a legit hardtop / softtop and convertible setup.

Hi everybody! I'm Steven 67, a lurker from way back with a rusted up 6.2l 86 suburban 3/4 ton 4x4 on Prince of Wales Island Southeastern Alaska (the most southerly part of Alaska, West of Ketchikan). I've been running 80's 6.2l suburbans since 95, they're ideal for the island except for the rust (but I'm becoming adept at changing body panels).
Anyway, I finally bit the bullet over my most recent problem with busted off starter bolts (unfortunately lent it to a buddy) which I've successfully drilled out and helicoiled over the summer. I've had trouble though with locating the correct length of starter bolt from my regular suppliers and wanted to tap you guys for a specialised shop where they might help me.
The problem is the bolts were broken off at different places and resulting in each helicoiled hole having different depths and features such as my rookie move of putting 2 helicoils in one hole (thus making the required bolt length different (123mm) from spec.)
Any starter bolt experts may feel free to chip in now please. Thanks in advance.

forgive me; i've never participated in a forum before...here goes. i'm a Chevy truck guy...my first one was in the 60's....a 49 short narrow bed.
How rare is a 1985 Blazer, 5.7 L factory quad front shocks, locking differentials, skid plates on transfer case and gas tank, stabilizer bars from engine to tranny and transfer case. i found that over 40,000 total were produced that year; but i have never seen one set up like this, evidently from the factory.
One man told me that factory quad front shocks meant it is a three quarter ton Blazer. However, the wheels are 6 lug.
Thank you for your time
