Introductions & Greetings

You should be able to start a build thread. I think this subject of Air Research Board certification might be best placed in the engine room section.

Welcome to CK5

Welcome aboard! Detailed LS swap/smog certification would be a good thread.
I would agree with starting a thread in the “engine bay” forum, unless you plan on other vehicle modifications, then you might consider the “driveway“ for a build thread.

for some reason it says i dont have the proper permission to start a thread. i remember some forums use to have a 5 post minimum before starting a new thread

I'll definitely put up a thread in the engine bay section for this. Everyone swaps LS mototrs but for cali there hasnt been anything ive seen explaining getting a bar certificate

Yeah, so far I have been using 75 and older vehicles so I don't have to deal with this.
It would be nice to see what is involved

@bs01cam you’ll need a premium (paid) membership to post in the Driveway forum and I’m pretty sure in the Engine forum as well. The free membership has posting restricted access to many of the sub forums. Pics will have to be hosted on a third party site and linked, the paid membership allows attachments and an unlimited pic hosting from the sites gallery.

My name is Steve, been into rockcrawling since the late 90s mostly yota stuff but had a kid recently and always wanted to build a K5 and what better time than now to build a nice family rig. I live in NE Nevada so I look at the bright side I'm only 7 hours from any trail I want to be at. Moab, Sandhollow, Rubicon, even some down in the AZ, LV area. I have a 79 K5 I picked up in Utah that amazingly was rust free(ish) ran beautiful body was stright interior was nice pretty much bone stock and ready for me to tear down for what is turning to a 3 year build thanks to part shortages and some poor decisions on trying to make what I have work. Once I get some time I'll put together a build thread but in short it has 60 front 14 bolt rear out of a van so 70" wide 4.88 with grizzly lockers front and rear. Hubs are 6 lug SAI with 9/16 dodge ram 3500 studs. Yukon lock outs high steer with hyd assist. PSE box, DIY Abomb bumper, 12k smitty winch, was originally going use my atlas2 with the NWF box but decided to sell the atlas and shelved the black box for a Magnum and 205 set up behind a TH350. Engine is a Blueprint 400hp/400tq crate that will be getting some upgrades later after it gets running. Tell the 600cfm modified edelbrock carb will feed it.
Shocks are from Locked offroad 14s up front 12s going in the back. I have 2.5 hyd bumps I need to also try packaging in there. Have 40" nittos on Some TMI beadlocks and now soon to be pro comp trilogy seeing I came across a smoking deal online one day and could not pass it up. Here's a picture of how she sits at the moment. Goal is to get it moving under its own power by end of the year. We shall see. I'm gone during the week and been balancing dad husband and garage life on weekends20200808_154356.jpg20220814_173424.jpg20220814_173933.jpg20220817_161620.jpg.

Hi all, I'm new here and have joined because I'm in the process of selling my 1989 Blazer (Scottsdale) and essentially need a little guidance on best way to sell it.
We got the Blazer in 1996 when I was 16 and I drove it through high school, college, and grad school. It's pretty much been sitting most of the last 16 years. It has some body rust spots as I imagine a lot do that are this old. Engine and transmission work was done in the late '90s and early 2000s but have been great for the last 20 years. It has 150k miles on it (62k when we got it in 1996). Overall it's in pretty great condition and I got a ton of praise for it while taking it in for a recent oil change and pretty much anytime I drive it.
I see that there's a classified section of this website and I've put an ad out on Craigslist in the denver area.
But, any advice would help.

Welcome @HighAltHD

Thank you, Wes. What's the ballpark market range for an essentially stock 89 Blazer with 150k miles and some body rust spots? I realize there may be no way to even ballpark that, but thought I'd ask. I don't have photos of the Blazer on the computer I'm writing this on at work or else I'd upload some.

Without photos and even then this market is weird right now its hard to price them. I picked up my blazer 0 rust 8 out of 10 on int and paint. Looked like a grandpa truck for 4500. I see worse posted for 7 and 8 but I never see them sell and I think they are banking on someone with money. That in my area of norther nevada. Region has alot to do with price as you know. In the end post it up for what you want. Either someone will buy it or you won't get a bite and that says your to high. Personally if you don't need the money sit on it and tinker. I think you will find you would rather have kept it. They are definitely becoming more hard to find. Welcome and good luck.

Hi everyone! My name is Marie and I'm from rural Northern California. I'm new to the site and just started the build on my rock crawler that's a little bit '75 Jimmy, a little bit '81 Blazer, and a little bit of custom work. Looking for tips, tricks, and inspiration. This site is awesome! My rig is far from being complete and I'm spending money right and left buying parts, but I'm having fun hunting down what I need!

@Wes Harden thanks! I don't have any current pics. My profile/avatar pic is of the rolled/totalled Jimmy (background) and the Blazer right after I purchased them. I'm mostly just collecting parts at the moment. I'll get pics posted once I really start piecing things together. I was able to salvage the motor, roll cage, sliders, and a bunch of other misc. parts from the Jimmy. So far I have a 350, TH350, NP205, D60 front, D70 rear, 5.13 gears, disc break conversion, ARB lockers front and rear, and some sweet KMC beadlocks :) Trying to decide which direction to go with suspension at the moment. Leaning toward 14" coilovers in the front and 63" leafs in the rear. The suspension, a black box, and hydro assist are next on my shopping list. I considered a beefier transmission, but since I plan on doing an LS swap eventually, I thought my money was better spent elsewhere at the moment.

Welcome, sounds like you got a good start going. Now is a good time to start cleaning and doing the freeish stuff to the rig and parts well you wait for funds to come threw. Make sure you post up a build thread. ;)
