Introductions & Greetings

Welcome cyrwu, there is tons of knowledge here that I've benefited from. You're off to a good start!

Thank you for your service! flagwaver

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome.

I took your advice and started a build thread, if you'd like to keep up with the truck I'll be posting updates there as often as they come. :)

How yall doing, New member from central Wyoming got an 88 full size blazer That I pulled out of a tow yard , so I'm still building her.

I've worked as a fabricator, machinist and mechanic since I got out of the service, so I decided to open a motorcycle shop with a friend not long after moving up here.

I'll be interested to see what direction I take this truck,I'm planning to use it as a daily and a hunting truck so despite some naysayers I'm just throwing a v6 and newer auto in it in the interest of milage and stockist power.

In my defense the 4.3 I'm tossing in there does make more power then the stock 350 tbi... and the motor and Trans I pulled out with it are junk

The LT based DI 4.3 used in the newer full size trucks would be a interesting idea in an older truck. Better power than a tbi350 and then some.

But if that’s what you got to work with go with it.

Welcome!

It is a direct port 4.3 from a 2000
It was around 2003 gm ditched the poppet valve with the central mounted injectors with actual port mounted injectors. To wring out every last drop of power you want to make sure you have the upgraded setup in yours. The poppet valves are prone leaking which will cause performance and misfires in addition to hard starting.

Gm still sells them but you can get a less expensive setup through Dorman.

While you are there, replace the intake gaskets as they are prone to leak coolant out from the passages on the ends of the heads. Fel Pro are my go to for them.

Appreciate the advice, I planned on resealing and inspecting most of the engine and Trans, now my question is can you is the new style injectors and fuel rail on the 2000 or would I need to source a newer intake?

Total bolt in. No change to the intake at all.

There is a true separate injector/fuel rail type setup for the 4.3 that came on the Marine version, but it would be multiple changes at once to deal with. This setup plugs right in and the fuel lines go right back where they are supposed to.

Would that work on my 1997 4.3?
