Is this lifted k5 worth my time looking at it???

sure go give that thing a test drive and give him an offer. it wouldnt hurt. you could sale some of the parts if you dont need that much lift and want some smaller tires. etc etc

I have not called the guy or anything, but just wanted to see what you guys thought seeing as you all know 4x4 much better then I do. I only know muscle cars and not 4x4. Also I would keep the K5 just the way it sits if I was to buy it. I think it looks bad ass.

Thanks guys. I will call him tomarrow and see what he has to say about it. Hopefully all is good with it and no major problem with it.

I'd buy it for that price. Like others said, its got the good stuff in it. I've always like GM rigs that look like mini-monsters, so I'd keep it the way it is.

call him TOMORROW???

call him NOW, or its gone........

a "good deal" is an understatement.
there gotta be somethin wrong with it

that is a $5,500 rig in good condition.

HELLO????:doah:

something doesnt compute.

Ya, if you're more into muscle cars and new'ish to 4x4. Think about what you want in a wheeler, let that be your deciding factor. For $2800, the winch, perhaps bumpers and ORD parts, and running gear alone is quite a bit of that asking price. But since that's the only thing the seller is advertising, it may be the only selling point. Doesn't talk about the engine, or tranny or transfer case, so are they shot? But, at that price who cares those can always be replaced, body is another story. All depends on what ya want. You could always grab it, find a cheap doner truck if need be, or perhaps it is a sweet deal. Only one way to find out, 1 hour isn't far away.

But you already know all that. So I'll give you the answer you're really looking for; if it was me, I'd call him asap, go look at it asap, if all the 'fun stuff' parts where good, I'd have cash on hand and throw him an offer.

'comes with' th400 and np205... sitting in the bed? And the end of the ad, 'come(s) on stock tires'

I was also going to mention that in the "fine print" it states comes with stock tires. The pictures look like it has a decent set of 44" Swampers and if you want to replace them plan on spending at least $1k for a good set of used 44's with wheels. The curb appeal of that truck really goes down when it has 12" of lift and stock tires, so if somebody thinks it's worth $5,500 in the pictures with the tires, with stock rollers on it then $2,800 is right in line.

One thing the OP states is looking for something for the winter. What exactly do you mean by this. If you are looking for a 4x4 vehicle to commute to work in on snowy roads then this is by no way the right type of vehicle for you. I wouldn't even want to drive a rig with 12" of lift and 44's Swampers down the highway in the middle of a dry summer day, and would be scared to death to drive on snowy and icy roads. So if you want a daily driver for the winter it would be a very bad choice, but for a play toy or trail truck it sounds like it has some very good components.

Specifically says it comes ON stock tires. Chances are he sold or is keeping the big rubber in the pics. You will be spending good money to buy rubber that will look even close to the pics. Possibly wheels too.

sure go give that thing a test drive and give him an offer. it wouldnt hurt. you could sale some of the parts if you dont need that much lift and want some smaller tires. etc etc

The ad says it comes with stock tires.

That is a steal regardless of if the guy throws on some "rollers". The D60/14FF and winch are pretty close in value to his asking price alone.

how many people are going to repeat that it comes on stock tires.......

At the time I looked at this post and read every post and noone said anything about it coming on stock tires so I posted that it did and by the time I finally posted others have as well before me. :flipoff7:

He said basically the same thing you all know that was in the ad. He told me that it does come on stock I think 31 if I am not mistaken. He said that he would look for like a 42 if he had a choice. Also he said that it does have rot in the wheel wells. I did ask him if he built it just for a offroad rig only or is it both offroad and street drivable. He said he drove it all over the place with it on 44. From NY to Pa and all around NJ. I am going to look at it just to see if it is really worth the money or not. From there I will let you know more then the phone conversation.

Thanks all for your help.

P.S. If anyone knows of a good k5 for winter time around the philly area let me know.

D60 front (if it doesn't need too much work) = $1000
Rear 14B = $200
Front and rear bumpers = $1000 (even though the front one appears to be imaginary)
Winch = $900
X-over = $450
Lift kit = $200 (cost of the shackle flip - springs are probably too tall)

So decide if you want a vehicle like this. If so, go buy it right away and don't even dicker on the price. Well maybe dicker on the price of the soft top - but buy that too, for sure. You can easily sell it on here.
