It pays to be patient! Check out these pictures...

Here is a picture of a 1973 Blazer that I was looking at when I was first looking at Blazers....I really owe that guy an apology...I bothered him with multiple phone calls and emails...and then not knowing anything I passed on it and bought the one I got. Don't get me wrong, I am glad I have the one I got but that one was the right color, it appears now to have had less rust than mine did, it had original everything on it...and I had him down to $2500 and I was to drive and pick it up.

Woah woah woah, are you saying you could have gotten an all original 73 for $2500??? You people in the south live in a different world than us rust belters :screwy:

That's been 4 years ago and the expenses of me driving to Texas and hauling or driving it back ($1500.00) easy...he was originally asking $3500 for it...that's when I began my search though...I didn't know enough yet to know that that was a really good deal.

I think he was in a hurry to get it out of his driveway...I couldn't find anybody willing to go on the trip with me...a airline ticket to Houston was $850.00 and then a rental car to get from there to his house was $100 a day....plus he wasn't sure if the Blazer would make it from Texas to alabama...neither was I.

Anyway, he was in a big hurry to sell it and that was faster than I could get things situated...so he got into a yelling match with me on the phone and that was it....it was over...It didn't have a Title but at the time I didn't realize that my state didn't require one...just a sales receipt. I got scared when it didn't have a title. Turns out that wouldn't have mattered.

That's why he dropped the price so low...he couldn't sell it but to a few states that don't require a title...but that's what I was talking about not knowing anything about the process at the time.

And, it had some engine problems....the one I ended up with had a brand new GM crate motor....that alone is worth the difference in price. It had rust too...I think I posted it on this Forum and asked about it....I got a tepid response.

Here it is http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=271643

Also memory playing tricks on me...he was asking $4999.00...so I guess I don't really remember what he finally dropped it to:

all this because of a gas cap...now I've hijacked Craig's thread...although he is the one I PM'd with these photos and asked his opinion.

Hijack away! I have no desire to keep this thread on any sort of track. I only decided to post here because this was one of my first threads I started back in 2006 when I joined. :thumb:

Found a woodgrain gas cap!

I knew there were painted caps and chrome caps, but never paid attention to which trucks got what. So as far as the Cheyenne trim level goes, solid color trucks got chrome cap, and two tone trucks got a cap painted the secondary color. It obvious which trucks got woodgrain, haha.

So what about the lower trim level trucks without bodyside trim? Did they get caps painted body color?

Well that didn't take long, the member's name was Never Satisfied, here's a thread where he was talking about selling it. A little rough around the edges but of course I'm a sucker for the deep stock steelies with the dog dish caps.

Thats been my favorite rig ever for a long time..

I want those wheels/ hubcaps on my 85 just for something different.

I painted one white, but I am going to have to redo the chrome part because the paint bubbled...guess I didn't use enough primer or adhesion promoter

I got to redo it this weekend....but just the round part...the handle came out perfect.

I also picked up one of these fairly hard to find locking gas caps from the 1973 era...just like the one I have now...I don't mind the look of that cap either:

Love the two tone Craig. I didn't realize your truck could be more perfect.
