It pays to be patient! Check out these pictures...

thats the way most race cars are done now as well...very good look and quick! needs to have a sound surface underneath though.

Paint shop wanted to do my white stripe in vinyl....I just looked at the with "are you kidding me" look....

my question would be, What's it going to look like 20 years from now? and of course, either way...I would've known it wasn't done the original way which would have drove me crazy :eek1:

They look good together! :waytogo:

What size are your tires? Mine are 32x11.50s.

Mine are 31x10.50s We put them in the wheel well at the tire shop and decided that was as big as I could put on there without potential rub

Craig, I made them balance my wheels with the weights on the inside...I probably got more weights on the inside but they don't show that way.

My research told me that the 32s would be the biggest "no-rub" option. I was wanting to go 33x12.50, but that would have been a bridge too far. I have yet to have rubbing or any evidence of rubbing in the 7+ years I've been running them.

Yeah I wish I would have done that. Next time I get tires (which will likely be when mine start dry-rotting or cracking) I'm going to have that done. :waytogo:

I love it! We should start a "stock" blazer calendar or forum page...for all three generations...these trucks are worthy of restoration just as they are worthy of crawling and climbing.

I wonder what other restored or survivor oem Blazers are out there 1973-75 that have factory color?

Perhaps I will move up to 32's the next time as well...but with the number of miles I put on it, that won't be for 10 years....

There was a guy on here awhile back (NevrEnuf?) who had a really nice '75 GMC Jimmy. Blue with white in the middle. He had the same wheels and caps as our K5s but they were 15x10s. It was lifted a bit and looked awesome. I'll try and find the pics.

Well that didn't take long, the member's name was Never Satisfied, here's a thread where he was talking about selling it. A little rough around the edges but of course I'm a sucker for the deep stock steelies with the dog dish caps.

Wonder where that one is now?

It looks vaguely familiar to mine early on:

I now realize that I don't have the "factory" gas cap like you do...I just quesued up Jaws and as he is backing out of the driveway you get a real good look at it. It is the same as yours but is painted white to match the stripe

That's a real nice ride. Like the white stripe in the middle.

FWIW I live right next door to middletown ( though I don't like to admit it) and can't recall ever seeing that particular blazer around. Guy must have never driven it.

The guy I bought it from was the grandson of the original owner. The grandfather was from northern Indiana, and that's where the truck spent most of its life. The grandson inherited it, and wasn't really into Chevys, he wanted to sell it so he could fix his boat.

My gas cap is painted green just like the rest of the truck. My truck was repainted (same factory color) in 1985. I always assumed that my gas cap was painted at that time. I always thought the factory gas cap came chrome with a black handle. That's how they sell/sold the HELP! brand replacement caps at all the parts stores.

Don't laugh...I've done a few hours research today and found the factory parts manual page that has the 1973-75 gas caps. They came is woodgrain and chrome with an asterisk by the chrome that says "prime and paint as needed"...so they did paint them the color of the white stripe if it had it.

The Jaws Blazer can be assumed to be factory perfect except for the lights and door decals. The entire cap on his is white, even the handle, so that it disappears into the paint.

Looks like they left them black for all others.

Here is a picture of a 1973 Blazer that I was looking at when I was first looking at Blazers....I really owe that guy an apology...I bothered him with multiple phone calls and emails...and then not knowing anything I passed on it and bought the one I got. Don't get me wrong, I am glad I have the one I got but that one was the right color, it appears now to have had less rust than mine did, it had original everything on it...and I had him down to $2500 and I was to drive and pick it up.

ANYWAY...that's all water under the bridge...the point is, this is original paint.....look at the gas cap...painted the same color...handle and all

Well you learn something new everyday! Who knew. I guess I need a white gas cap now! :thumb:

I got one at O'Reilleys today for $7.00...it's chrome but about to be white soon....Or if I want the locking gas cap, the one I have is period correct.
