*it runs! but.....new cam and heads in 350 sounds good in park but no power*it runs!*

k well got it runing.....no more flames coming out of carb do to the new rocker nut i put in....but in order for me to drive it....i have to have the timing so far advanced its to the point were timing mark is on other side of balancer..when timing at 12* it just back fires out of the carb and barely wants to move but with it way advanced it runs good tho, dont over heat, takes off good...dont feel like im geting full power tho.......when i checkd the valves they seemd like they were opeing in the rite places tho....like the cam was in right...im goin to check and make sure im not a tooth off on the dist.any other ideas?...could the carb be too rich??????

Dont waste your time checking the tooth on the dizzy. A tooth off can be adjusted no problem.

used my buddys timing light with a dial on it....and for it to be runing good it has to be 38* advanced....my buddy said thats normall for havein a big cam....thats what his runs at and he has bout the same size cam as me...but he also built the motor himself......what do you guys think?

is it advancing properly?

in other words, as you rev the motor up, does the timing mark move? total timing should be in by 3000... easiest to check that with the light with an advance knob...

even with a HOT cam, it should only have total timing of maybe 35 to low 40's at 3000...

im not sure....i was working the throttle and he said to rev it up to about 3000 and he had his gun on it....and then said "yep its fine" .....and it runs pretty good at this settings...
