some of the desert racers here run those, he said he's had the best luck not tearing those up like other tires and that they are worth the $$$ for him

SPEAKING OF TIRES, anybody running these??? They could be up to $600.00 each.
So what's so special about them?

BFG BAJA
I found this review below:
Load Range "D"
124 mph "T" speed rating. There is no higher rated off road tire.
Six ply nylon sidewalls for extreme puncture resistance.
Quiet highway operation, quite as a 33" All Terrain T/A.
Heavy duty rim guard.
Long tread life.
The highest racing technology.
X-Rayed and QC'd by hand, not by machine.

Buddy, I would agree that pinch damage is the most likely cause for bulges, but I've also seen brand new tires do it the first time they're inflated. The last one I remember was a BFG, and I only remember that because our warehouse staff was making it difficult to return to the vendor. The thing is, I've seen some weird bulges that seemed to be from age alone, since the car hadn't even been driven in 2 years, but that was admittedly a really old tire(8 yrs or so). One day the tire was fine, the next day it had a big ass deformity on it. It seems like tire structure will, at some point, just start to break down and allow a bulge.
The tire shop I go to has never given me a tire more than about 4 months old, and I checked the codes just for curiosity. Also, when I looked at the recall website, I foound the fridge in my toyhauler has been recalled for repairs.![]()

In the case of a new tire bulging like that, then it would likely be a build issue, but again, the manufacturer of the tire might have something to do with that as well.
It makes sense though that age would cause a problem doesn't it? It's like that for everything else. Including your own body. (At least my own body)
Later,
Buddy

Not trying to be argumentative, I just wanted to make the point that it's not ONLY driver damage that causes the problem. Also wanted to emphasize that tire age is a concern, suprisingly 20/20 did a story that was factual AND pertinent for a change.![]()

Nice train horn.
