Well after a lot of consideration I decided it was time to move on from the foolsze. Our family is growing and the cage just wasn't designed to fit a back seat or be an enclosed rig from the elements. Back in feb/mar I went on a all night snow run with a local club, at about 3 am a guy got stuck blew his front axle up it started to sleet rain. No windshield brought the suck. decided I wanted to still run the hard lines but have a rig that if necessary could be ran on the road. My buddy that owns a shop said I needed a jeep and the wife was on board with a smaller body and enclosed cab. So its going to be a tj stretched to an LJ length. More to come

1974, sounds legit.

The LJ is my favorite. My dad had 2, red and yellow. They are the perfect size for wheeling. I think when jeep went to the 4 door wranglers they forgot what made jeeps great. Small and light, easy to fit in tight trails. An LJ with full width axles and a big tire will go anywhere.

@HankScorpio im pretty stoked on it now. It should fit the needs perfect. I'd rather destroy this than another chevy.

Better have a Chevy grille dammit.
I know need to figure out how to French one in.
Maybe hang some Chevy taillights on the back corners so he can still have the joy of replacing them every trip.
Hahaha. You guys will be able to take care of that.
Yeah I guess since I already heard he was going to the dark side, guess I should watch to see how he destroys it...
Thanks for the confidence :haha:

For drivetrain its getting a 5.3 ls, 4l60e, np203/205. The blazer tons and full hydro steering. I picked up the the motor last year with plans to swap it into the blazer

A company sells a front half and back half kits and to stretch the tj to lj length for the rear cargo area. This allows mort up travelfront and rear. The rear frame rails are now tucked up against the tub. The tub will be cut and stretched out

Ah, didn’t know that was kit. Pretty cool option to have.

Its definitely a sweet kit and makes it so much easier. I think the jeep is going to have nearly double the travel the foolsze had and sit at least 6" lower

the stock frames are far from ideal and weak. Should work well and there’s no way I’ll be able to keep up with you now.

Double the horsepower too! I was considering going to a Blackbox/205 but can't have everything. Its getting ruff stuff trailing arms in the back with the 12" icon coilovers and the front is 4 linked with the 14" kings. The rear coilovers shouldn't have to go through the tub either :D

Cool build!

My wife drives an LJR, it's a lot of fun to ride in and nimble as hell. Her Jeep is what made me want to cut the roof off of my Blazer, so nice to ride in open.

I want to be angry at you, but I also can't blame you for wanting a new build. So I'll shutup and eat my popcorn.

Haha tell me about it. I was pretty pissed about it and very much stuck on keeping the blazer but it would have needed a ton of work to get it where I wanted it.

This will still get me out on the trail and hopefuy out to CO and UT for some wheeling! Its also going to be a 4 seater!

Totally understand. LJ's are the sweet spot for sure. The kit looks sweet. Looking forward to the progression of the build and then action shots.

Is the 203 hurt? Maybe too much power shifting it...

Using the 241 range box definitely gives you more options
