jeep stuff and now a volvo!

i started working on my 60-2 rear. i pulled the cover and found......a power lock! i was thinking a trakloc would be in there on a ford. all the bearings where junk though, the fluid was goo. so i gutted it. cleaned it with a wire brush and a couple gallons of brake clean.

now to start the the build process. buwahahahah....

Well. Hopefully installed during the summer. I still have to get the rear axle finished. Get the front done. Order the suspension. Weld on some frame stiffeners....sye...cut down the rear driveshaft......lots of stuff.

I took the axle to work so it would get done a little faster. But now I have so much real work to do, Its still going slow. On the flip side. I have the money to buy whatever parts I need as I go along

got some more work done. welded the tubes to the housing. then welded a plate behind the lip. ground that all down smooth.

put the pinion in. got the carrier dropped in. its not adjusted yet, ran out of time. should be able to finish that up this week.

nope. worked until 6 on saturday. i knew i was going to be way too tired to drive 3 yrs each way to go wheelling.

Bummer. When i heard you dudes were going out i figured i would see where it was. If it was close enough (browns or something) i was going to cruise up there also, but not so much to wheel as just an excuse to get up into the woods for a day. Maybe do some shooting. But when i saw where you were going i was like, FK THAT! Im sure it would be fun, but not fun enough to justify 6 hours on the road when i could get vertually the same terrain about an hour away!

My buddy owes me some money. So he got me a ford hp44 for my build. Hell yeah. It's just a housing with 3.54 gears, but it's the one I needed.

Pics coming.

there is a guy out in camby that does it for $250. he has the jigs and knows the axle lengths i need for it. i will probably just have him do it.

Interesting. Is it a business or just a dude doing it on the side? I ask because i have always wondered what it would cost to have a 10 bolt switched to driver drop. Like for a SAS on 95ish tahoe...

Like this guy.

its a shop. thats all they do is diff housings and gear stuff. 2 older guys run it.

that pic is funny. my apprentice at work has a full width driver drop 10 bolt under his s10 blazer. i asked him why he didnt just use a ford d44? i havent heard a real explanation yet on that.
