I am in the market for a cage for my 83 truck cab. I was looking at the Jegs cages and the different point options. I think I would just use like a 8 point then I can build the rest myself if I want more. Does anyone have pics or descriptions of when each point option contains or any pics of them installed? Thanks.

well ordered a 8 point cage from jegs. $249 shipped. 1.75 tube .135 wall. Should be here in a week or two

post up some pics when u get iyt installed plz, im interested in purchasing one too

I am going to buy the Jegs cage and noticed on their website that they have installation instructions in .pdf format. It does not look like a weld/bolt in installation. They say that some of the tubes are left long with no notching so you may need to break out the chop saw and tube notcher.

I am pretty sure those cages are made by s&w race cars. And yes you will need to cut and notch some of the tubes. :D

yeah, the saleman I talked to said alot of the bars are only notched on one side and you have to cut to fit and notch yourself the other end.

Yes, please post up some pics when you get it and then with it installed. I didn't even know jegs sold in cab cages, I was about to build my own but with tube benders around a grand this is an appealing option.

Pics during installation, this is the Jeg's 10 cage kit

I ordered the 8 point which I don't think has the halo brace and front bars but the 4 and 8 are 1.75 and the 10 and 12 are 1.685 tubing and I have access to 1.75 at work and will finish the top and front myself so I can re-do the dash and put the cage forward more.

looks awsome. could a cage like this be adapted to a Suburban, or would I have to find/make a completely different cage?

I dont see any reason that one could not be adapted for burb, all the tubes are plenty long. The only thing is if you don't buy the rear seat saver AKA family extension bars, you will loose the use of you middle seat.

$249 including shipping? That is not bad, I was gonna order one from S&W but shipping alone was going to be close to 200 bucks, so I passed. I still need to put a cage in before I go to Rubicon in August. Maybe this is a good starting point....

OK 2 questions. Why are the trucks only "C-10"?? Whats the difference between 1/2, 3/4, and 1 tons?? OR the difference between 2 and 4 wheel drive.
And secondly... if this is in a truck cab how do you have 4, 8, 10, 12 point cages? Is the simple 4 point designed so your cab is open in back with nothing between seat and bed?
I just would like something in the cab, I dont have to rip out the interior to install and not have to climb over bars to get in and out. Bars that follow contours of front of door opening with cross bars on top connected to hoop behind seat. Does that make sense to anyone??

Sounds like the route I'm going to go , just add to it as I can .

Question though , where do the back bars go to , got a pic . I have only 2/3 rds of a wheelwell left and the tailpans gone:D
