Can I get away with having a 5 gal jerry can full of diesel in the back cabin area of my blazer? I wouldn't try it with gas, but the diesel doesn't seem to smell as bad, and it won't go kaboom!

Why not the M1009 has a can holder on floor in rear on left side. I tried to find you a picture.

As long as its well sealed. I wouldn't leave it in the 100 degree sun, but I don't have any experiance with diesel. With gas, the heat would worry me.

I've always had gas cans in the back of the truck. Either 1 gallon plastic ones or (as now) 5 gallon jerry cans. Never had a problem. Just make sure it's well secured as you don't want it in the back of your head in a wreck!

I found the picture I wanted to verify it.

As Metrodps points out, the CUCV '09's come with precisely that ... but your can better seal up good. My junky old Blitz' leak and smell ... wife wouldn't ride in mine 'cuz she got headaches from the fumes.

ACtually ive been doing it with GAS for about 3 years now. I rotate it out every 6 months or so. I use USGI or NATO gas cans. Jus check the seal, if its not cracked or messed up, itll seal jus fine. Im in Florida and havent had any problems. The cans dont swell or leak and there are no fumes what so ever. I wouldnt do this with any other can out there though.
