Jetting for Edelbrock 1406

Bought a used Edelbrock 1406 from a CK5 member (lak20040) in Colorado,elevation 6500ft.
My elevation is about 600ft above sea level,Ontario,Canada

He had it jetted and working well for his elevation.

Just wondering where I should start as far as jets go.

Carb is not for my Blazer it's for a future project.
 
The best place to start is buy figuring out which combo of jets, rods, and springs are in there. The part number or size for the jets and rods are etched into them and the spring is hopefully still color coded. If it came with the book great, if not you can download it in .pdf format from the company sight. I would say to set it up for stock and then make the adjustments you need based on driveability. I have a 1406 and had to tune it rich and put in a slightly stiffer spring to solve all of my woes. This was due to the other mods done to the engine which the book addresses as well.
 
I tore the carb apart to get the jet #'s(hard to see BTW) and the step-up spring is the natural steel color no hint of the stock set-up yellow.

The main and secondaries jets were the stock .098(main) and .095(secondary)

Metering rod was also stock with a # 7547 stamped on it.

No pic. of the step-up spring,but it has no color to it...faded maybe?
 
If you're serious about optimizing any carburetor it might be worthwhile to borrow a wideband 02 system to calibrate the cruise and power air/fuel ratios. Significant gains on MPG can be had assuming ignition, curve are up to snuff.

That is about a dandy of an idea. Pretty cheap too. I would have loved something other than my nose and teared up eyes to tell me how rich I was running. In the end I went with the stock jets and larger rods to lean it out some in a 327. Still worked good in a 350. Don't remember what rods though. I didn't know enough about springs but I did play with them. I think I used the green one. That or black. I couldn't let myself put pink in.
