JUST BOUGHT A CUCV, pg 2!

Good deal! I'd be tempted to run 38's with the 4.56 gears so you could at least sorta keep up on the highway. With 35's you'd be turning that 6.2 at 2775 rpm at 60 mph. At least with 38's you'll be turning 2500 rpm at the same speed.

Still not gonna be ideal for a lot of freeway, but it'd be OK.

For comparison, the 3.08's and 31's puts the highway rpm's at 2116, which is near to perfect for a 6.2.

Moneypit, why crap all over a guy when he is happy with his new purchase? I don't think $2600 for a rust free and complete M1009 is out of line at all...

Hmmmm, do you think it would be a good idea to maybe just sell the one tons, and put a SF 14ff in the rear? Gear it with say, 4:10's? Hmm, i found a SF 14 bolt, 6 lug with 3:42's.

Ya RPM's will be a little high. I run 33's with 4.11's and a 454 and it sounds like its screaming sometimes at 65. Bigger tires or higher gears would be a good idea if you are doing any hiway/freeway driving. Why 1 tons for 35's? Whats the purpose of the rig?

This is still page one for me too btw :wink1:

Yeah, with the ~35" tire size you're talking about a even the 10 bolts will be fine...but I'd look at maybe 3.73's. 3.73's and 35's should have your freeway rpm at 2450 at 65 mph.

Just wanna do an all around rig, daily drive it if i want to, and take the family up to the mountains. I dont trust the 10b, ive blown them up with stock tires and ratios. But I have never had an issue with the front axle. I am thinking i will sell the one tons and buy a SF for the rear.

Hmm, I wonder what would be an acceptable gear ratio, to give me plenty of power off road, and a descent cruising rpm at 70... Any suggestions?

Yeah...an OD trans with your one ton diffs. Best of both worlds.

Rene

Yeah... not a bad idear.. anyone wanna trade a TH400/np208 for a 700r4/208

sorry, dont mean to crap on ya... Im just always suprised by what folks see as a good deal. on the flip side i may just be a cheap skate?

Anyhow, im happy for ya bud! FWIW, my CC in my sig does about 2500 on the freeway with the 35's and 4.10's. iM not sure how different the NV4500/205 is for gearing though, my guess is alot lower then the auto/208.

Your NV4500 would have .73:1 OD, where the TH400 would have a 1:1 final ratio.

Congrats man, we want more pics!

I've got 38's and 4.56's in Big Ugly. Same 6.2 and TH400 as you. It'll do 70 but it's loud. In fact I don't like going over 60-65 with it just because of this.
My plan is to eventually get an OD stick in it but the big tires have helped a lot. It's going to be loud though.

The Blazer has 3.73 gears and 32's with the 700R4. I kick myself for not getting 33's as I now know it could pull them without even blinking. 35's would even be do-able I bet. However I already drive it around in D and only shift it into OD at about 55mph. Thing will shift into OD at 35 if I let it.

Congrats on the new rig, and my vote is to keep your 1 tons, some 35" tires and a overdrive, either auto or manual. :D

The guy selling that cucv on ebay was a total scamer. goes from a 60 and 14 bolt with a detroit to 10 bolts. preety cheesy if you ask me. guy who bought it for 4,300 got jacked. Dam i need to start selling k5's on ebay i could doube my money:wink1: Triple my money if it has one tons:p: You should be thankful you didn't buy, $100 bucks worth of paint and new tires doesn't net that kind of cash.
