Just bought a new gmc sierra! *trip report post 247*

Go with BlackBear, hands down the best. PM if you'd like. I run one of Justin's tunes, couldn't be happier.

The guys on GMFS rave about BlackBear tunes. I'm just getting mine done locally, both Camaro and Tahoe by a reputable LS tuner.

Just so pretty.

Been thinking about a tune for my 04 Tahoe. The shift points are kinda soft. Whats else can a tune do for a stock ride?

Increase power and mileage and best of all remove or reduce torque management.

What he say^. And look into putting corvette servo in ur tranny too, makes shift alot smoother and firmer. Not bang like shift kit.

Little vid getting on the freeway today. Had it in manual, first gear at about 20mph when i punched it. Obviously shift late. You can see/hear/feel TM kick in during the shift. I REALLY want a tune. I want to raise my rev limiter to 6200rpm and get rid of most of torque management.

The other thing is, i really like the way the stock exhaust sounds! Its really throaty without being loud.

Question about torque management.

What is the computer doing during this?
What are they using it for?

I have a good idea, but just want to be clear.

BTW, my hemi sounds spectacular in town. Dead quiet on the freeway unless you hammer it. Just saying.

I bet your hemi would WASTE my truck. Torque management limits the amount of power output from the engine in an effort to save the rest of the drivetrain. It does it by either retarding the timing, or in the case of electronic throttle, they can actually limit how far it opens. Like with my truck, it will only let the throttle open something like a third below 3000rpm. Or something like that. Makes for no burnouts when its dry...

I bet emissions is also part of it.

I can't do any kind of ========due to full time 4wd. Sucks. It's not that fast either. It's a boat.

Probably. Im sure yours is faster than mine tho. My truck weighs something like 5800 lbs and only has 315hp and 335tq.

The TM is annoying in my Tahoe. It slows down to shift. And when I have to stomp on it there's a long pause before she downshifts and goes

Thats up for debate. Drive like a 16yo, and yea, it would probably shorten it to some degree. But, you can also essentially give it a "shift kit" with the tune which will add life to the trans.

Getting my Tahoe done on Tuesday, I'll let you guys know how it comes out ;)
