K10: Built HP60/241-205 Doubler/tons of tube

I had some brake lines made up today and picked them up after work. Also picked up new banjo bolts for the rear calipers, a fresh "T" for the rear lines and new brass sealing washers for everything.
With some help from my dad I got it all plumbed up and bled. Took a few passes around the truck but we eventually got all the air out and it has a really nice pedal feel so I think we're good to go.
Tomorrow I'm going to get some rubber tube and split it so it'll go around the rear lines going over the springs. They don't really touch but just in case it'll give it another layer so it doesn't even rub on the rubber coating on the line.

We're going bright and early in the morning to look at some wheels/tires. If I can get them for the right price I'll have some good pics in the morning.

Here's some horrible dark cell phone pics. :)

Well things went pretty well today. I took a drive out to a little town on the outskirts of where I live to look at some tires my dad found on craigslist late yesterday afternoon. I have generally always had two sets of tires... TSL's and some BFG AT's, I run the TSL's while crawling and the BFG's on the street and more importantly for the sand when we go to Pismo.
I figured why not do the same now but obviously they couldn't be little 35's with the gearing I have now so we ended up "stealing" these. The guy got them to put on his truck and they were too big so he just wanted to sell them. Picked up all four with the wheels for the price of one of these tires new. :woot:

I bolted them up since the axles and brakes are all done and it'd be nice to get it off jackstands completely while we're putting the doubler in. Realized it was too close on the front so I made the decision to yank them and pull apart the front end and install some zero rates I had kicking around for a rainy day.

It was kind of a PITA to get them in since I had to pull the steering and now my u-bolts need to be replaced with some longer ones but it's worth it. It's amazing how big a difference 1" of lift and more importantly moving the axle 1" forward makes. Now I just need a basic trim on the front of the fender instead of massive trimming on the back. Steering is still happy too.

As long as you only use those tires for street/sand/snow you will like them.

Truck looks much better with some big TARS for sure.

That's what I got them for. I still have those 40" TSL's that I'm going to set up as well. I picked up some 8 lug 16.5 steelies that I'm going to do weld on beadlocks for the TSL's with.

That should work perfect then. I wish I had 2 sets of tires!

Quoted for truth. W/ 5" of lift in front on my Blazer and 38" tires, I barely have to trim the rear of the front fender opening... the front of the front fender opening is a different story though.... :D

I got tied up this late afternoon/evening doing some stuff then was working on a truck for a friend getting his timing on his 383 set back to where it runs decent instead of where we had to put it to get it to pass smog so I didn't have much time to get stuff done today.
I got the ARB compressor mounted to the firewall in the dark though. :)

I need to order new u-bolts for the front this week, wire up the compressor and plumb the line then get going on the linkage for the doubler. The doubler needs to go in next weekend to keep up with the schedule we need to keep up with.

Wired up the compressor and solenoid tonight. I've got plans for the interior/dash area once we get through wheeling what's left of this summer so I just tossed them onto a little piece of lexan I had a couple other switches wired up on already. Try not to be too jealous of the gaping hole at the bottom and the drying silicone :)

Everything works perfect so that's another thing to check off the list. Now onto the doubler...

New longer u-bolts for the front and some flanges for an engine cage/front shock hoops are on the way from Ruffstuff...

I had intentions of spending a bunch of time this morning working on the shifters but my family had other plans and today was clean out the giant pile that accumulated full of crap that nobody knew where to put it while moving in day... BUT I had been bugging them about it so at least we got it all knocked out.

I had a little time this afternoon before we needed to head out for 4th of July stuff so I knocked out some of the linkage.

I made this little plate...

Then bent up a piece of 1/4"x5/8" flat plate that fits the shift rails really well into this...

It uses a shoulder bolt like this at the pivot point...

Yesterday before I left work I started making the main spindle that everything will pivot on for the shifters coming out of the cab. The bushing will weld onto a plate on the adapter and I havent' decided if I'm going to cut the chrome rod for snap rings to keep them spaced apart or if I'll just make the bushings take up the whole space and use nylon washers between them or something. I'll figure it out when I get that far.

Nice. Are you going to weld some small gussets into that bent linkage to get it to retain that shape, or is it heavy enough?

It's 1/4" but I was looking at a small gusset on the outside edge of it just to be safe.

EDIT: I just realized you're asking about the long piece. I think it's ok, it's 5/8" thick in the direction I'll be pulling in.
