K10: Built HP60/241-205 Doubler/tons of tube

I can't remember if you changed anything with your steering recently, but if you had the steering arm off the knuckle, be sure to check the tightness on those nuts. One of the nuts loosened up on mine a while after I installed a new steering arm and I ended up sheering off one of the studs coming out of the knuckle when I tried to turn while the tire was up against something. If I had thought to check the tightness a couple of times, it wouldn't have happened. Just a friendly reminder.

Good reminder:thumb:

That's a cool truck though, except for the excessive toe-in. I'm digging that tube work in front. Who's truck is that?

I don't think mine was quite that severe when it broke. The tie rod kept the wheels pointed in the same direction. I just couldn't turn very far at all. I heard a loud POP as I was turning the steering wheel and then I couldn't get it to turn but like halfway. The raised steering arm was actually pivoting on the knuckle. I remember I drilled the broken stud out and bought an expensive 9/16" or 1/2" tap (or whatever it was) and tried to install a new stud, but it wouldn't hold for some reason. Guess I got carried away with the drill. I ended up getting a whole knuckle from a junk truck for less than what I payed for the bottom tap. :doah:

I'm pretty sure Avery is a lot smarter than me when it comes to automotive stuff though. Actually most everyone on this site is. :haha: Sounds like he's on top of things. :waytogo:

Looks awesome Avery. It inspired me to tow my K5 out to my new garage tomorrow so I can get working on it again

Damn dude!!! rig is turning out nicely. I remember the night you started putting the 3/4 ton front in, lol you like hit yourself with a hammer or something. Your fab skills are freaking on point man. I'm totally jealous. I've kinda been away doing Army things and just lost focus on my K5, but its coming back an as soon as I get it shipped out here its game on. Just curious, but why not extend your rocker protection outwards about 5 or so inches to keep you from smashing the cab? Since its all tied into your cage you'll more than likely just pivot around rocks instead of crushing your cab corners. Btw I'll probably steal your idea of cutting the rockers out and just welding sliders in there. I read your whole thread, and you have came a long damn ways bud. Congrats, maybe I can make it up to your area either with my Rubi, or hopefully my K5 and wheel with you while I'm stationed out here on the west coast.

Word. Can't wait to see how you do it.

He's going to do sliders just like everybody and there grandma have been doing it for years. Nothing new so you cant steal the idea:dunno:

A bunch of PSC goodies are on the way for hydro assist, a WFO order showed up with one of their ram mounts that accompanies their steering arms I already have on the truck and this just showed up today.

20" bar from TrailWorthy Fab. Sucker is bright!

Avery, I know you occasionally drive your truck on the street. I'm curious as to how the 5.38s and your 40s(?) do.

When I do it's mostly around town but even on the freeway it's not too bad. OD makes a huge difference.

Got the light bar mounted and wired. For the price tag (even the non-sale price tag) I think you just can't beat these bars from Trail Worthy Fab. It puts off such a nice clean, white light and draws next to nothing. When I turn normal lights on I can see it in my voltage gauge but when you click this bar on it doesn't even wiggle the needle.

Bring on the night wheeling!

I've got the same light bar waiting to be installed on the crewcab. I've been thinking about making some sort of cover for it so it doesn't get covered in bug guts.

I was talking to my dad about the same thing. He suggested something simple like a dirt bike/quad handle bar wrap around deal (minus the padding obviously).
It'd be simple to sew up something like that and just wrap it around and velcro it in place.
