K30 with a big block question?

292's had a lot of success around here on dirt and oval tracks..

One guy ,"Bugs Stevens" is a local racer (and salvage yard owner) that won many first place trophy's with his 292 powered Volvo PV544...he also ran one with a BBC I believe ,and from what I heard the 292 won more races..

My older brother had an '82 Chevy K-30 that originally had a 292,but he put a 454 he had in it --it had 4:56 gears too, single rear wheels..many DPW trucks around here were ordered with the 292's and SM465's factory..even the one ton dump trucks they plowed with..

If a fella was to find an L29 that doesn't have the accessories, will the accessories from a Mark IV swap over?

A 6.2 is only 140 HP and 240 ft/lbs torque..
A 300 Ford would likely beat it in a race and out pull it on hills..
The 292 probably would too...

They do sell engine adapter plates to bolt a 300 to a GM transmission..

seeing the timing set on that great pumpkin, i was wondering are the oems still building cam retard, non vvt, into timing sets?
also the mousey ver too
Considering this engine is a 2007 I wouldn't take it as a representative of what is going on now.

But all the GM V8 engines have vvt technology. 5.3, 6.2 & 6.6 (gas) truck engines and the 6.2 for the Camaro and Corvette have it.

They should. But I'd compare the mount holes on the heads to be certain. I've not known anyone to go with the early setup on a L29.
