K5 exhaust routing (looking for the best way) Show your pic's!

I posted a link in the manifolds to header thread. I want to get my blazer back to a more stock exhaust.. there was some solid pics in here

Looking for ideas? Or why the bump?

Martin

Seeing this thread again really makes me want to clean up my exhaust some. I've got a couple of bends that wrinkled a little that would look a lot better with smooth mandrel bends but it works so I'm not going to cut it apart, it's 3" so I figure there's no real flow issue.

Never, ever pass up a chance to pic whore....

Shorty headers, 2.5" Y pipe in to 3" single with a Magnaflow muffler.

No problem because 4spd. :thumb:

Seriously though, if I had an auto I would have had the crossover pipe probably a little lower and forward towards the oil pan in hopes of being able to drop the cover without interference.

It’s certainly do-able because GM did it when they were new.

going to try and run my right side down past the t case then cross or to left side under the t case out flange, 2 2.5" into series 80 Flowmaster 1 3" out . There is a factory heat shield on the right frame length of the trans. A right side factory hanger and muffler heat shield on the right side as well.
I converted it to single with an exhaust system out another k20 burb. The PO was convinced by an idiot smog tech that he had to catalytic converters, and had it had dual when I got it.

My plan is to go from the long tubes to a high flow cat straight back to a Borla XR1 and then over the rear axle and kicked out behind the tires with an h-pipe right after the t-case. True duals. 2.5” pipe. Should sound absolutely wicked.

Two ideas:

A cat. converter or at least flange connector (or v-band, etc.) between the "y" pipe and rest of the exhaust, or just unbolt the pipes at the manifolds and disconnect the exhaust mounts from the body further back to give yourself working room.

Personally I think a separate y-pipe is the way to go if you have the time and money. Getting it completely out of the way when you need access always .akes things easier.
