Pics

tailgate post and tailpan before and after.

Got tailpan from Raybuck auto parts. It is made for 81-87 Chevy truck but fit the Blazer just fine. I did have to drill a couple holes and weld some nuts for the two side latches.

2nd day welding. Welds don't look half bad??? Hope there strong!??

You know your into your project when you you work standing on snow!

thats what i was looking at going through, never welded before. thank god for ebay w/ the parts i got they are oem and bolt together. im gonna have to fab up and weld where the seat belt bolts up and some of the lip that the bed bolts to. i wish i had a place to do it now. im saving up to build a garage on my fieances house before i can break it all down.

Floors look good I hope you guys are going to be using Rust bullet to paint. hahaha I just re did my floors the custom way this winter. They are done I need to get finished pics of them but now I am getting ready to replace bed sides and repaint my white truck BLACK:D. But here are a few pics for you guys.

Heres a few more:D By the way it took me 2 sheets of 4' 8' 3/16" flat plate and 1 24' 1x1, 1 24' 2x3, 1 20' 1/4 by 4 inch to do the whole truck. It cost be 500 for metel but I bought 3 sheets and i'm taking one back so that will bring it down around 400. That price does not include tail pan, tailgate post which I bought from LMC. I had to but a piece of 1/4" by 4" and 3/16" shims on top of my tailpan to give it the right height so that the tail gate can shut. Becuase I was not using oem sheet metel, But i'm happy with it. I don't think it will rust out any time soon :). I coated everything 3 to 6 times with rust bullet. I'm about to recoat the top of the floor again with Black shell when I paint the truck. If you guys need any help just shoot me a pm.

Yeah, we did alot of that work on my rig last summer. Mostly just the floors. But I really want to go through and do it the right way and get rid of the rot/rust, then use either Rust Bullet or something similar everywhere

rust bullet the same as por15? like a rust proofing? i have oem sheet metal and im really debating on por15 or linex or both? needless to say none of us want to do it again in another ten years.

So where'w the rust you guys are talkin bout?:D You outta see my junk, its sad, really. Luckinly I've got another frame and partial tub to swap the few good parts to. If you're replacing panels and floors with new stuff, I wouldnt use Rustbullet or POR15 on em, use an epoxy paint on them. The RB or POR are good if you're putting on top of old panels that have some rust, but they wont stick too well to new metal.

I`m hoping to do this work over the summer.....for the bed/tailpan/tailgate area, which would you guys recommend, preformed pans from LMC, or do something similar to adamsforsythe?

adamsforsythe, got any more pics?

If you dont mind some cutting and fitting, something like adam's comes out alot cheaper. That being said, you might not have quite as many headaches using the preformed stuff. I'm going the cut yer own method as I am notoriously cheap...:D
Here's a thread with TONS of pics, he redid the complete floor in diamond plate, which you wouldn't have to do but the principle's the same....sure dones look nice though! http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102779

Mill Supply's part was fine. Removed the rusted section, cut the replacement piece and got it welded in.

Yeah I have millions of pics hahah. I wish I took pics of what it first look like. My tail pan was toast back floor was toast above the tail pan and my driver seat was going through the floor. This was not that hard to do. I bent my front floor by hand and i'm not a big guy. I have a lot of hours on this floor. I'm still doing things here and there to make it better.
I'll pm you a link where all of my pics are.
Thanks
Adam

Adam, you bent the angles by hand? I didn't really even think about that as an option, not because of the difficulty in bending them, but just trying to get the right angle. That just gives me more and more motivation to get started on mine!

Hello,
I am working on a How to article right now. I started at 10:00Pm and it's now 1:00Am i'm only about 1/4 done with it. I should be done with it tomarrow. It should answer all of your questions.
