Pretty ingenious solution, I like it.
When I said manual I meant manual transmission, sorry if that wasn't clear. You felt it through the whole truck if you (ok I) was dumb enough to leave it in OD and be in gear when vehicle speed dropped to under 25MPH, which was the "kickout" MPH for the GV unit.

I need to buy the new controller because the auto one (I have that) is different then the manual one
