I want to get the rotatable turret ring they mount in the figerglass shell of a HMMV (Hummer) and mount it in the top of my K5. Anyone know a surplus place that sells one?

Sure. To mount something, but at the very least it would just be cool to have. I thought about making an American Gladiators style tennis ball cannon.

But none of that is any good without the turret...

Tennis ball cannon to take care of those jeep-things?

Go see your local USMC recruiter and tell him you want to be motor T and you can join us in IRAQ!!!! :eek1:

I'm in the Army. I was SF, now I'm in the reserves in a SOF Psychological Operations unit. I've already played in the sandbox. :waytogo:

If they haven't changed anything since my day, there's no way I would attempt to put one of those things on a K5 fiberglass top. Plus, back then, and probably still today, those HMMWV tops were not fiberglass that had the turrets.

The ones in my unit are, or are some other composite fiber-resin. The turret actually mounts on four pieces of steel tube that come up from the corners of the passenger compartment. I figure that this would be easily replicated and since the Blazer top has the flat mounting rails, that would make a nice spot to build the base of them (they would only support the turret and its occupant, not rollover protection). I'm completely confident I can make it work, I just need to find one. :D

they dont liquidate them or any other weapon parts off. they are all destroyed or re-used.

we had one on our duce and a halfs in iraq. they were left over from when we gave them to the iraqi's from teh first war. we used them as busses since the bus system sucked.

I wonder if I could build one out of something. I would need a large diameter ball bearing swivel ring.

I don't think it would be that hard to fab one really... lot of effort for minimal gain IMO though. I guess if you need a turret though, you need a turret. :thumb: is there a plan for a better seat than a 2" wide nylon strap?

j

Actually that was never intended to be a seat. It's retaining strap, like the troop straps the put over the back of an LMTV or troop carrier. We all just use it like a seat because we're lazy. :D

I'm sure I could figure something out. Hell, I could mount one of those $30 injection molded racing seats in there for ultimate fun.

And of course I need a turret, who doesn't. :saweet:

this last months popular mechanics had an article on a company thats building them for hummers. its to mount a .50 caliber on, take a look at it.
