I am trying to get the largest and widest tire I can fit under my 1990 blazer with a 6 inch lift.( Probably skyjacker or superlift with rear springs. I would like to get the Toyo MT's 37x14.5R15 (real dia. is 36.7) or Mickey Thompson MTZ 36x15.5R15 (dia 35.9) or Trxus STS 36x14.5R15 (dia 36.2) I know that the sts fit becuase I saw a picture of a jimmy with 6 inch lift with 36 sts. I am just wondering if there will be an rubbing issues, if so how bad. I will need fender flares to pass inspection, I would like to get the extend-a-fender, but if I have to i will get the cut-outs for more turning clearance. Anyone have a classic with 6 inch lift with 36 or 37 inch tires. Any pictures. Any suggestion on a nice radial 36inch tire? Thanks

wow there really is that much room, so i guess i should be alright with a 36 or 37. I am just manily worried about rubbing when turned all the way with real wide tires. Would they rub?

Just for reference i'm running a 6" spring up front on my 89 blazer with a D60 (that adds another 3/4") and i have 315/75/16 BFG's and when flexed the tires hit the rear of the fenders BAD even after the tirs have smashed the fender corners to hell. Ii have 8" of lift in the rear and have never rubbed the tires out back.

after welding degree shims to the perches up front, I am about 5 inches up from stock. 35" will rub (or did) until I remade the back half of the wheel opening... My 33's rubbed with 4" and stock wheel wells... don't think 37s will fit without rubbing with a 6" - may be alright for city driving. Last time I saw 37s, they were on an 85 with 4" lift... no inner fenders and a lot of cutting... still rubbed.

Are you sure your actually 5 inches from stock scouthead? I know for a fact my suspension is a 6 inch lift over stock, and I cant get my tires to rub unless Im am full flexed out and even then its not rubbing bad, Im confident I could fit 38s and wheel it, 40s I could fit but I would be worried about rubbing when it comes to offroading

I ran 38x14.50 super swampers on an 89 suburban with 6” springs from skyjacker and had to trim the back of the fenders to get them stuff completely. Hope this helps.

I will have to look to see if I still have photos of the set up.

my 91 K5 has a 4" lift and a 3"body lift "I know". It fits 38 with no problem, could easily fit some 40's. You ought to be fine with a 6" lift. You might need to do a little trimming on the front and back corners of the fenders though.

The problem is not always a taller tire, it's a wider tire that will rub when turned all the way

I'm planning getting the mickey thompson classic lock rims. 15x10
BackSpace 3 5/8 in. Offset = -58 mm

The wider rim and wider tire will probably make you rub. I would go with a 16x8. The 15s seems to be getting phased out so they cost more sometimes

Don't forget that suspension flex plays a huge role.

You can probably fit 40's with a 6" lift with no trimming if there's basically no suspension flex.

With a flexy suspension 33's will need trimming at the same height.

And as everyone else mentioned backspacing matters, and wider tires/wheels will be tougher to fit.

X2 What Chris said.

My 33x14.50's under a 6" rub with street driving and stiff springs so i am not sure how anybody can claim no rubbing with taller tires.

My 33x12.50's rubbed under a 4" Superlift and no trimming

My 40's still rub and I cut all the way back to my firewall and pounded it in some. I also cut all the way up to my radiator support and bumpstopped 4" of uptravel out of my suspension. This is on ~5" of lift with the axle moved forward 2.5"

IMO with the axle in stock location if you have any up travel any wide tire larger than a 33 will rub under 6"

Its just the shape of the fender on these trucks and how the axle moves rearward during up travel that requires some trimming.

Go with 8" wide rims and some 35's with a 6" lift, but know you may have to trim the rear bottom corner of the fenders. You will definetley have to trim with 36 or 37 in a 14" wide variety.

Friend of mine has an '86 K10 with 6" lift he had 36x12.5 Super Swampers and just put on 37" Irok Radials and has minimal rubbing. But he also doesnt rock crawl with it, I'm sure he would have more problems if he did flex it out more.

What size really depends on how much sawzall work you want to do. You could fit 54's on a stock truck with enough sawzall work.

I just put on 37x14.5x15 toyos with a 4 in lift. I had rubbing untill I cut the fenders now I am doing good.

I want to get the Toyo MTs in that exact size. Any pictures? How much Cutting did you do? How far do they sick out of the wheel well? Can you max out your steering when turning? How do you like those tires? Do you think I will have to do a lot of cutting with a 6 inch lift?
Thanks
