Leak on my np203 adapter Need help quick

i know . and understand .

this is good your learning and best with pics like you posted . now you have a game plan .

and paper gaskets for me get at least some of this on both sides it helps . https://www.permatex.com/products/gasketing/gasket-sealants/permatex-high-tack-gasket-sealant/

I have some of that or airplane one, either way.. If it gets bad. I will just have to suck it up and pull it apart and apply sealant.... no worries.

I’m learning, so thanks. I do appreciate it.
Besides who doesn’t like mating and unmating a 203?:haha:

I tell ya what if and when I do it again. I’m buying an engine hoist and supporting it through the trans hole.
$170 from harbor freight.

don't need an engine hoist to do that a chain 8x16" cinder block, 4' 4x4" and small bottle jack. this way the engine hoist legs won't be in your way under the truck

I once used a Hoyer lift in my K5 to hold up the transmission & T-case when I had to replace the pressure plate for the third time..
A friend had a couple of them he got from the scrap yard, there were a dozen or so junked there when a local hospital/rehab center closed up..all stainless steel ,so were dozens of desks and other medical equipment..

It was short enough to fit in the K5 with the roof on,and lift up enough to position the transmission & T-case and stab them into the clutch splines..was a lot easier than using the transmission jack I had to rent from U-haul the first two times I replaced the defective 3 fingered pressure plates..nothing in your way under the truck,no kicking a jack trying to get the transmission in..

A few guys I know just put a 4x4 across the front seats and used a small chain falls, that works too,but it might mess the upholstery up..
One of my K5's had a sun roof,I could have used a come-a-long on a long chain to a tree branch, but that one never needed a new clutch..

I like this. Good point about the engine hoist legs.
I wish I could see a visual of this.

Just wrap the chain around the 203 or pull 2 bolts and add a couple washers and screw the chain into the 203? What size chain?

Cinder block goes where? Under the 203?
Would motorcycle strap work the same to support the 203?

I would just need to suspend a bit to pull it away from the adapter to apply permatex and slide it back in.

I know mucho questions. But I like this idea.

I was thinking support the trans while adapter/ tcase were out.

But if you want to set up as a straddle crane, I would crib up higher and use
A come along with a chain attached to the tcase

Ok, I got ya. I’m inclined to make way without have to completely pull the 203 away. Just slide by permatex brush in these and swab away.

But I feel the seal on the 203 needs replacing, so no other but to pull it down...

Ok just so I can get a grasp I took my other one apart to see inside. And had smell of ATF as well.

Now, how does this seal come out of this part?

I used a rubber mallet to tap it and and the rubber is cracking off... Hahahaha probably old huh?

#2 pic . set the seal retainer up off the face this way . then drive the seal out the front . #3 pic shows the paper gasket stuck to the range box case face still . and the pin hole drain port to line up .

my info i gave dont care what case . there both gm 203 so the info is the same .

thats how to do the question you asked and i pointed out stuff in the real pics you can identify that we have been talking about .

you could clean up and new seal the one you got in hand off spare and swap them when you tear it open .

Scrape the green paint off and read the seal number on the left side of picture.
