Let the build begin in 5...4...3...2...

I was waiting for that....:haha:

Our computer died a few weeks ago and we had a friend of a friend look at it. We should be getting it back tomorrow or Tuesday. Soon as its back...I'll be able to pic whore for the masses...:thumb:

Well, yesterday was a mixed bag of happy and poo. A friend of mine and I got the rear axle dropped out and we got the passenger side leaves off, but the driver side leaves are not moving. The bolt in the front spring eye is rusted in the spring so tight that I was torqueing the leaves trying to get the bolt out. So, out comes the sawzall this week so I can zip through the bolt.

Then, I made the ultimate discovery of failure, my rear springs are 56" while I ordered 52" springs. :doah: I can't even begin to tell y'all how pist I am at that. I called Rough Country and they'll exchange the springs for $365 and refund the money when they get the old springs back. Well, I can't tie up that kind of money for a couple of weeks so I'm going to install blocks for now since I don't want to drop the tank....again....and reposition the spring hanger 4" forward.

Maybe later I will install springs but for now it's ok since this truck will never be a hard core offroader but an occasional fishing access road, go camping truck. Besides, it's a major daddy wagon right now and I do not stomp on it so axle wrap will be minimal.

Bummer deal about the springs. Blocks should be fine. I have 4" rough country on my k10 with blocks and i have romped on it with no problems.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about blocks. I had a set on my 90 Blazer years ago and I was pretty happy with them. I might...repeat might just move the rear hanger forward 4" so I can use the springs I already have. I'd have to drop the tank, but it would save me money.

Well I made my choice, I'm gonna go ahead and drop the tank and move my rear hangers forward. No sense having these perfectly good R C springs waste away. Besides, I want it done right the first time and my old springs are clapped out bad. The truck had a lean towards the driver side and I don't want to keep that look going.

I will snap up some pics and whore them out to y'all...

Good luck. I want to replace my rear springs regardless if I use my 2" lift blocks cause my rear sags and more on one side. Cant wait to see its stance with the new springs.

Ok, well the 'Burb is back on 4 wheels! I finally got the rear half sorted out after the spring debacle. I just went ahead with blocks since I don't romp on this thing and it's just going to be a hunting/fishing access road/occasional fire road traveler.

I also replaced the swapped in 12 bolt that was in there making a hell of a racket, for a nice, quiet 10 bolt. We'll see how long that lasts. I have to replace the u-joints on the rear axle because the ones I have now are too small. I also need longer brake lines and wheel cylinders for the brakes, but the hardest part is over thank God.

So here's a few pics of the "after"....

The last couple are my "helpers". They approve of daddy's "big boy truck"...:haha:

I'll get some more pics soon since my wife got her own camera so now the Canon is all mine.

reminds me, I need to adjust my headlight...:thumb:

looking good

Well sh!t....

Went and bought 4 brand new Yokohamas today and tried to get an alignment too. I knew I had to replace the steering box, but the guy called me and told me that he couldn't do an alignment because my drag link ends and tie rod ends were bad.

My brakes are also pulling to the left when you apply them even though I've got brand new ORD lines so I'm going to have to figure out what is wrong there. I've got a few issues, (clearly), to deal with and the snow is supposed to start on Sunday with a high of 22*. :eek1:

On the plus side, it looks KILLER.......sitting in the driveway!! Pics to come.

that's about all i can claim. sounds like its time for a steering overhaul, it aught to drive pretty nice by the time all that is replaced.

Yeah, I cashed in 50 hours of vacation and got the check yesterday so you know where that's going. Looks as if O'Reilly's gets another chunk of my change. I've also got an XJ steering arm somewhere in the shed so as I see it, perfect time for an upgrade on that as well.
