Lets play: How much is this truck worth?

AJM, your right. The difference between what people think something is worth and what they will actually pay for it is huge. Some times there is only a very small audience that will pay a reasonable price for an item. Look at our economy. It's becoming unusual to find a product not made in china. And, people expect every store that has the same product as walmart to list it at the same price.

Before I found the 88 k5 that I have, I had bought a 85 k5 that didn't run for $750 in so cal. The guy wanted 1k but gave it to me for less. The interior was beat, but all there, the passengers door had a crease and the engine was torn down half way. It did not have a lift. The sheet metal was in amazing shape and it was free of rust other than a few spots of surface rust on the body from scraped paint. The prep for a paint job would have been minor. I couldn't wait to get back to the seller with a trailer before someone else did.

I got the truck home and found a door for one side and then a few months later found the 88 already upgraded. Do you know how difficult it was to sell that 85? It was perfect for a project vehicle. I listed it higher but ended up giving it away for $750 with the door that I bought. Everyone wanted to know if it ran for that price and they seemed surprised that I wanted that much when they realized it didn't. I did state clearly in my add what the bad points of the truck were, including it not running. Of course I did not advertise on here so that didn't help (I wasn't a regular hear yet).

This showed me how little most people are willing to pay for something, even if it is a desirable item and seems to be priced ok by the seller. I could have parted the blazer out for more money, but the body and frame were too nice to see them not continue on as a complete vehicle. After that headache I decided that I didn't want to sell a vehicle again unless I absolutely had to. My friend used to flip vehicles and made money at it, but I buy to keep.

I hear ya.

The economy and gas prices over the last few years have shaken these vehicles up...but a lot of people don't know that or are trying to delude themselves in the hope of finding someone even more out of touch than themselves.

I paid $1800 for my Blazer last May. I had to fly to Seattle to get it and drive it back. I've since put a good chunk of money into it. However I figure for $5k I could have gotten a rusty Tahoe locally. I think I made a good choice.

However I'm not paying $8k for a non-rusty but worn and needs paint Suburban. Some of these folks are just nuts.

Those rims are sick bro.

And, no, I don't mean sick in a good way.:D
I just don't understand why people like those thin looking tires and out of proportion wheels. Last time I checked the "rims" are part of the entire wheel.:haha:I guess people think it sounds cooler to say rims.

The blazer looked pretty clean, but not $7250 clean.

No way.

You can buy pre-emissions Cummins Rams and diesel Super Duties for $12k in good shape. I love these trucks but no way I'd pay $12k for one even in super shape.

"Appraised in 2007 for $17,500.00"

I don't think that truck cost that much when it was new. Truck looks clean, but that stainless trim likes to hold moisture and cause early rust. Especially with the salt they use around here.

He's only asking $6250 for it which isn't bad for a truck out of the JC Whitney catalog... :haha:
