Let's see your twin and triple stick shifters

Another ORD setup...

...in a little different application.

I ordered these twin sticks, I liked the stainless shafts with rod end linkages attaching to the factory pivot point on the adaptor, no one else has all those features. Made by JB fab, although most other stuff on my truck is either custom, ORD, or DIY4X.

I specifically asked for the 2nd bend in the lever because I like the tops of the knobs level. Also, they custom bent it to my dimensions so it would fit through the factory opening. Works very well, solid engagement and no rattle.

Those look great, I wish mine had a spread like that. I wanted hand grenade shifters, but there isnt any room with ORD's design.

Thanks, you could probably bend your levers to do the same if you heat them up or something.

That's the plan. Should have done it before I put them in the truck though.

Refrased question. For those who have doublers, Which shifter is used most often? You guys wish your shifters were organized a certain way?

I just installed my ORD triple sticks today, and I was not super impressed with them. Don't get me wrong. the quality is great. They are nice, heavy built bastards. The ease of installation was disappointing though. If I didn't have a 1" body lift already, it would have really sucked. I wish they would have all came through the factory transfer case shifter hole, and then bent out from each other.

I use the 205 the most the Middle stick getting that 2:1 is way fuun in the sand and snow. I dont have a Body Lift so I do wish that I would have gotten a little more Fancy with my shifter location. They are to far forward I would like them Back in the Middle area of the Jimmy between the Driver and Passengar seats maybe at least close and taller with a slight lean to the Driver side. for ease

Pardon my ignorance, but I am in the middle of a truck build and I'm building the shifter and linkage for my divorced 205. My truck will mostly be a driver, no serious offroad. Just backroads and snow. I don't have a doubler, just the 205. Is there a reason for me to do a twin stick? At this point I could do it pretty easy, I'm just not sure why I would need it. Thanks.

Twin sticking a 205 allows you to control the front output and the rear output independently of each other. its Fun and its a nice option for the extra grunt un 2wd

I actually found that I rarely split the front from the back but I used the double low quite often. However, it was more commonly going down a hill rather than up. With a full load of gear in the back and a couple of passengers, the brakes were really put to the test. Downhill in double low allowed me to give the brakes a rest and keep me from overheating them.

I need a different boot for my tranny lever. The stock boot is about 7" square and won't fit with my twin stick boot. Anybody have a source for a small round one? Even a factory boot I could look for at the pick a part. The tranny tower is about 3" around, and sticks up about 4" from the tunnel.

Heres mine. I don't have a pic with the bench seat in, but with the sticks all the way back they're about 3" from the seat. I'll never be sliding the seat forward.

???

I see alot of 205s with twin stick shifters. How come no 203s?

My stupid shifter box that sit on top of the trans/tranny assembly keeps getting stuck and is very hard to use.

I looked into getting a twin stick setup to replace it.

ORD says they make one for a 203 but then I read on some forums that you cant twin stick the 203s???

:dunno:

The 203 is a chain drive, not gear drive like the 205. So although you could potentially have one stick for high/low, and one stick for 4 lock, as far as I know you can't engage just the front because it's connected to the rear by a chain. All you are really doing in a 203 when you put it in 4LOC is locking the differential that is between the two, since it is a full time 4WD tcase with a differential in there.

So yes, you may get a twin stick that works better than the factory shifter, but it won't be a traditional twin stick as far as function.

Cool thanks for the info, but it would still be a good replacement for a broken one or are their other options out there?
