Let's talk coil over shocks

Kings customer service sucks imho I haven’t had anything but probs with them but I think your mileage will vary on this, either way the main 3 are good shocks and for comparison purposes they’re damn near neck and neck when it’s vanilla coilovers like we’re talking.
Couple of important things to keep in mind.
Most Offroad shocks will have a linear valve in them which makes them sloppy on the street compared to a digressive valve typically found in most street tubes stuff.
Digressive means the low speed compression stuff like bodyroll and brake dive will be less floaty than a linear counterpart.
Swayaway used to have a couple shock piston options, I don’t know if king does or not, and bilstein come with digressive valves in the 8125 and linear in the 9200 coilovers.
5100s are digressive and 7100s are linear for those wondering. The valve stack can be the same 360/80 for example and have a totally different feel with the piston change.

Now that doesn’t mean you can’t make a linear shock piston work just fine but keep in mind tuning them to work may require more low speed (big shims).

And the cross brace absolutely must be in there.. it will taco the frame in short order if not.. going over the top of the diesel isn’t a huge issue. If you attach the crossbar at two points on the towers to prevent rocking you won’t have any issues. More of a pita to service but no bent frame.

One other thing that has been on my mind. In the thread "three day 3 link" they mounted the rear bracket in the space between the transmission crossmember and the saddle fuel tank. Now then I am not going to have the constraint of the fuel tank. Would it be advantageous to move the lower link back on the frame more to give a little better clearance for the crossmember? I will be using a bent lower link instead of straight. It will have an 18 degree bend to allow a little more clearance. Would this allow me to shorten it up a little? Possibly in FRONT of the transmission crossmember?

The stock cross member location is for a SM465. I will be swapping in a NV4500 and NP205. Anyone know how much that will effect the crossmember if any? Will that combo move it forward or backwards on the frame?

From everything i've read and heard about this swap while researching my own, There will be no change to the stock crossmember location at all. Also, if you use the spacer to adapt the long input gear configuration NP205 to the NV4500 it won't affect your driveline lengths at all either.

Granted your drivelines are going to have to be fit to your new axles, but you should be good to go on your crossmember location.

You're most likely right BUT the working plan is to build a new crossmember to incorporate the rear lower link mounts. I don't "Need" to do it but I am fairly certain that's what is going to happen. More because I can clock my transfer case up and essentially have a flat crossmember. That way I can skid plate it easily. It will also give me a better location point to support the transfer case.

Yeah You are wading off into uncharted waters a bit with this stuff.

Is that front axle high pinion?
