It's not the shifters, it's the NP205.......

I got 400/205 and ord twin stick . does just fine unless I forget and try to shift out of order .![]()
I have to shift the front axle first, and then the rear axle. I don't have a choice, it won't shift unless I do so.

correctly modified shift rails will still NOT let you do it wrong .
I am just saying if I try and do it out of the correct order .
as in I forget I am in low range and go for the front output and try to go to high . the safety will keep you from doing this .
it just this easy . . . .
front in last and first out before range changes of high or low.
Never!

So in regards to the 465 mating to the 203...Its obviously better to have a short 32 spline (which youd have to buy) instead of the standard long 32 that came from the factor but im curious to know if anyones actually had a break from having the long 32 spline shaft? I know this makes the assembly and adapter longer, which is never usually a good thing.
Im wondering if ill run into trouble being that i have a 108.5 wheelbase k5 and not some longbed truck to ease the angle of the shorter driveshaft.
Ive seen a few 205 adapters crack...i think its mostly due to the weight of the case and not being fully supported but am i put myself in a risky position by running that long 203 adapter to the 465? I plan on supporting both cases very well so maybe its a non issue?
In your blazer I would definitely do the shortest possible setup.
to give you a idea .
ord doubler plate and 203 range box and 205 is just a tiny bit longer than stock whole 203 tcase input to rear yoke.
I regards to overall length, I run a 465/doubler using the short shaft and factory adapter. I had to go to a CV rear shaft to eliminate the vibration and the riding length is only about 35" long (with the rear axle pushed back 3"). Using the longer 465/208 adapter will add a couple of inches so be ready to buy a fancy CV driveshaft.

I have a long 32 spline SM465 with an NP203/NP205 behind it in a Blazer. I have stretched my wheel base in the front with a zero rate. I have a stock GM crossmember supporting the entire thing with nothing else. I do have a double cardan joint in my rear drive shaft.

Yes, the factory 465/203 is a 10 spline combo. This is the correct adapter to use with the ORD short shaft.
