It's got a strong 454 with an RV cam, rebuilt TH400 rv converter.

plans are:

black paint
4wd conversion
6" lift
dual rear calipers
35's

hung the doors, fenders and popped the hood on today.

ya, its in the back of the 2nd pic. Things mint, just a little surface rust from sittin for 8 years.

Leave it old school. And leave it 2wd tow rig pimp it out, or something like that im just kidding.

So if I read between the lines correctly its been sitting several years taken appart? So you have to put it together?

Cool truck anyway

Damn just what I am looking for!!! I need that! Seriously if you change your plans shoot me a pm! I need a body for my 85 4wd crew cab dually and I love the round eye,i mean headlight.:D

I cant drive this thing back from western Mass until I fix this problem.

truck idles great, when I put it gear it stalls. Its been sittin for 8 years. Tanks and sending units are new. TH400 so it shouldnt have to do with the TC lockin up. I'm thinkin I'll replace fuel filters, rebuild carb, new float check for vacuum leaks.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

nice truck but 77s had the mustard colored trim pieces not the black ones.

Yup, the 1977 *model year* trucks had the yellow stripe on the trim. Assuming this trim is original.

I'm thinking this truck is a 1978 *model year* -- many states register older vehicles by date of manufacture, which for this one could easily have been *calendar year* 1977.

The kicker would be to decode the VIN ... but in the end, it's not all that important :deal:

AND KEEP THE ROUND HEADLIGHTS! I do so love the 73-80 front clips and 73-77 grilles, particularly. Stock, the headlights suck, so you should prolly do the relay/heavy wiring thing and maybe put in some H3 or whatever conversions, but yeah, keep it as is...

If there was any appreciable amount of gas in the tanks, it's prolly pretty nasty at the bottom. I've had good luck with that ISO-Heet stuff, but I think it's primarily denatured rubbing alcohol, so a pint or a quart of isopropyl alcohol from your local paint store might do wonders.

I'd check idle speed and timing ... at least do a quickie check on the plug wires (lightly tug on the ends, see if they want to pop off) but I think you're right, sounds like a fuel delivery issue.

Got some more work done on the crew cab today.

Still have to fix a fuel delivery issue before I can drive it home.

SELLL ITTTTTTT!!!!! You will NEVER get it to run right!!!!!............................................................... :D

if that gas is the same stuff thats been sitting in there for 7 years, drain it all out and start fresh. also ya definately replace the filters.

Nice find, i would love to get my hands on a crew cab. I would freshen u pthe white paint and polish the rims.... make a sweet tow rig for a trazer

Back at it

Since the last post i have swapped in a new cam and popped on an edelbrock performer 750. Thing screams!

I have also been collecting parts for phase 1 of the 4WD swap...got some hangers from Kert, rebuilt a D60. So anyway...I ripped into the front end after work today. Almost got the whole 2WD assembly out before it got dark and started to rain. I'm gonna try and get this done all this weekend so I'll try and take a lot of pics.
